Maguire on the scoresheet yet again. Lovely!

Huge win considering we fell behind, clear at the Top!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭Paz-CCFC

That was like the 1-1 at home to Wexford last season. Chance after chance not going in and going behind against the run of play. This time, we managed to hit back straight away to stop them from settling with the lead and managed to get the winner. We had the chances to score another few, but **** it, the win is the most important thing. Couldn't have asked for much more than 12 points from 12.

Onto Rovers away in Tallaght now. Absolutely buzzing for it. Given the good start and it being a bank holiday, we should have a big crowd at this.

Surely Seani will be on the move in June.. he's on fire. Hopefully he's settled and stays tho

At the moment , you cannot see him playing 90mins and not scoring, long may it continue.

I honestly thought we were very poor tonight, just lucky that Sligo had nothing to offer.

Bolger had the worst game I've seen him play for city, I've never rated shepherd and he was his usual poor tonight, Sean played very well but there's no point in hoofing the ball into him from defence like we did all 1st half he's rarely going to beat any CB in the air, Beattie was deserved motm in my opinion, so much energy and always offering himself for the pass.

That being said, a win is a win, we responded well after going down.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Agreed. We were very poor. But Sligo were awful.

That said last season we would have lost that after falling behind. So that's s big plus.

Bolger and Dunleavy were appalling. Both need to up their games big time ahead of Shamrock and Dundalk. If Bennett is fit I don't see how Dunleavy gets in the team.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 992 ✭✭✭kcb

Yep I thought the midfield three were sound asleep for the first half, in particular Bolger. Keohane did ok.

Is Benno fit but just not playing two games a week? The two lads at CB looked dodgy.

Campion did well when he came on. Pity Ellis didn't play him in at the end when he had an open goal.

Top of the league anyway. I'd take a draw Friday!

It's early days but that's a massive win tonight and Dundalk losing too. Hopefully keep the run going against Rovers on Friday.

Dundalk visit Saturday. A win could define the season. A loss is not the end of the world.

No reason we don't get 6000+.

Our 12 year wait for a league title should end this year.

If Seanie doesn't leave in July and keeps up this form then Cork should walk the league imo.

Seanie and Kev staying will be big plus' but if they are only on 1 year deals (9month deals) we won't get a bob at the end of the season

5 games. Great start but it's a marathon, not a sprint.

I'm confident seanie will have a great year, if he stays and remains injury free, we will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. But walking the league? Bit too early for that kind of talk.

Seanie deserves a call up to the national team.

I'd call him up and have in the squad no problem cause I think he's a talented player and training with better players will help him improve his game. But I can't see him getting into the squad unless he's playing regularly over in England for a few months, he might get a cap when Ireland play Mexico in the US in June.

Both players are under the age of 24 so ye'd be entitled to some compensation but the form Maguire is in I can't see him still being in the league come the summer.

It'd be great to see Seanie come on as a sub when we play Moldova at home in October.

It's early days but great to see Cork City FC at the top of the table, having spent most of the past few years in 2nd. C'mon City.

Incredibly sad. He was a one club man and obviously devoted to his club, Derry City. Huge loss to his family and club.

The cross sold out today should be a cracker

Not a cracker but Get In!!!

Super win! Fully deserved. Great to see the X sold out and bathed in glorious Sunshine!

Seanie was superb. The assists were simply outstandin and both goals were taken Superbly!

Great to see 'that ' fella sent off, was like a raging bull for most of the match.

Thought the ref was fairly appealing. Allowed dundalk take about 2 mins to take a throw in the first half and was Constantly trying to hurry city up in the second.
Any apparent contact and a free for dundalk was given while Seanie had to be actually dragged to the ground to get one.

All in all, an absolutely outstanding start to the Season!!

Could not have had a better start. Looks like Derry will be stepping up this season and have a lot to play for. Dundalk not out of it by any means either but it looks like it will be between those three, with City being the early favourites. No less than they deserve after being the bridesmaid in recent years.

100% is probably a bit too much to expect but I'd settle for something close to it. The match with Derry City will be interesting. I'd say that in view of everything and the recent sad news in Derry City FC, they will be very fired up for a strong campaign and may well be the main threat to city this season.

Looks like ye are bringing a right crowd up to Limerick tomorrow!! Should be a bit of craic, hopefully seanie doesn't skin us too badly!

Anyways if ye are looking for pubs before the game there will be a big crowd of limerick heads in jerry o deas...Mulgrave st, close to the away stand If thats packed the square bar on Johns Square (head for the cathedral, its right there) will be a bit quiter but everyone there will be heading to the game.

Donkey fords is only down the road from MF too for a feed. Go see a real chipper, none of this KC's messing at all, theres only about 5 items on the menu.

Buzzing for this game tomorrow, hopefully its a cracker, and another hat-trick for Tosi.

Where's a good place to park the car, grab some Donkey Fords and wander to a pub with a Cork City crowd?

I would say that depends on which direction you're coming from.:)

If you're looking for a car park, summer st multi story is closest, and cornmarket square is only a short stroll. For on street, theres usually lots of space around pennywell rd, thats at the back of the art college. If you are early enough there will be space in Johns Square

Great win. Seanie in first Again!
Late Bray goal is more good news.

Derry Friday night is sure to be another big crowd down the X

Looking forward to tonight's game. Derry are one of our main challengers and the chance to create a real gap has to be taken. Weather is good and there should be a fine crowd.

Here's to 8 wins in a row. Surely that'd be a club record?

I think City hold the record with 8 wins at the start of the 98/99 season. So City v2017 can equal that record tonight and break It next week away to Bohemians.

Poor first half but they were well in control and full value for their 8th win on the spin.

Bring on Bohs for hopefully number 9!

I wonder if 9 league wins in a row would also be a LOI record.
