Blagging a better router from UPC?

Hi, I am on the 25Mb package with UPC and have the standard EPC2425 router.
    I can get ~1.7 - 2.0MB/sec using WiFi 802.11g. I can also get 2.9MB/sec using a wired connection.

Is it possible to get an upgrade, preferably free, to an EPC3925 or better so that I can get 802.11n allowing me to enjoy 2.9MB/sec over WiFi. I believe I am not getting what I am paying for at the moment. I know they give the better routers with the 50/100Mb packages but I think that the 25Mb package should be included in this for the reasons I explained above.

    John.

The 3925 has a very poor wireless signal http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056486410&page=3
I have the 2425 myself and was gona upgrade to 50mb, but im gona hold off as I depend on the wireless function allot, the 2425 even tho it's not a great router, still gives me a good to excellent signal even as far as upstairs.

In my last house I could get ~2.2MB/sec through wifi with the same package, laptop, router but in my new house I never get greater than 2.0MB/sec but it is more likely to top out at 1.7MB/sec

I'd be interested in hearing what wifi speeds other people on the 25MB package and the EPC2425 router are achieving.

    Here you go....

You don't need a different router, you probably need to get someone to look at the cabling into your house.

Wifi speeds have nothing to do with Broadband, and are completely dependent on your own personal setup.

I'm getting fed up of seeing anything an everything even remotely related to Internet on this forum. This is the Broadband forum. There are separate forums for Wireless and for Nets & Comms.
