Barr an Chaladh, Garavans and The Merry Fiddler are the three pubs that do the most Ballad sessions. They keep changing line-ups, and seem to range from free for all to decent groups. Two groups with decent music are Neptune's Fancy and Atlantic Pirates, but their line-ups vary.
Think Púcan may do ballads sometime. Sessions in the Crane often have a few singers in the mix and it's not all tunes. Ring the pubs mentioned when you're down.

Walk down shop street and give one of the buskers 2 euro and they'll play whatever you want.

It's different bands every night, but a lot of nights they dish out ballads which are especially popular with the tourists from May to October. Some nights they do just have trad sessions.
