Dental cover for teen with medical card

Does anyone know where you bring your teen for a dental check up?- he's 13 and has a medical card. I called into a private dentist today and thought I would just have to sign him up there but they said that under 16's wouldn't be covered by a medical card there. I thought that the hse only deal with primary school kids, so…

Does anyone know where you bring your teen for a dental check up?- he's 13 and has a medical card. I called into a private dentist today and thought I would just have to sign him up there but they said that under 16's wouldn't be covered by a medical card there.

I thought that the hse only deal with primary school kids, so if I'm right is he covered anywhere for dental care with the medical card?

I'm going to ring the hse clinic that he went to before on monday but was just curious if anyone knew what the story is.
