We did our own a few years ago and it worked a treat... no problems since..

We used a 1000l ibc tank full of water..
Had tank in trailer such a way that outlet was hanging over back edge.
The well had a submersible pump, already fitted..

    1, pump out well
2, back trailer in over well head and flush down maybe 100l water.
    3, pump out well
    repeat
    repeat
    repeat
    repeat

The flush of water will stir up the silt, then switch on the pump immediately and pump out the water and silt mixture..

You will need to ensure the pump is near the bottom of the well to get the most silt out.. We could drop ours down further as the day went on..

It took 2-3 tanks of water and the most of a day but we reckon we got about 4 feet of silt out and the well worked great afterwards with the water coming perfectly clear within 24 hours..

There are contractors who will do this but we were quoted €600-€800 to have it done..
