Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

We've got a Same 100.4 and a Lambo R4. Both of these have a really notchy gear change. Is this a known characteristic of these tractors or is there something that can make them smoother. They can be really horrible to shift in both directions.

    Ta.

drove both same and lambo and the gearbox has to be the roughest i have ever used along with a very jumpy foot pedal when driving on the road ,a 25 year old zetor would be a joy to drive compared to them

Yip, the Lambo has an electronic throttle which really should have a damper on it. Funnily enough we previously had a Deutz which had a really sweet gear shift - although the power just weasn't there - probably down to it being a 4 speed main box. Strange as they are all out of the same stable - SDF.

Is there anything that can be done to sweeten up the gear selection on these machines? I am assuming that it is the selectors that are the problem.

There is a quite a bit of reek coming out of her at low revs but clear at full power - any ideas as to what this could be?

To be honest theres no real handy fix, only way to get them right is to get the right man to rip them...in last 10 years have had 5 different same tracs and have had to do each box at least once!!! completely moved away from sdf now. New holland all way now..

Are you saying that the notchiness can be adjusted out to make it a slicker shift? Is the fix internal to the gearbox or just modifying the selectors?

Had a Same 90 Top model as a loan for a week, last month. 2002 model, with nearly 5k hours on the clock.
Have to say, gear change was slick. Tractor was in mighty good shape overall, to be fair. Thought it very nice to drive.

i have a lambo 1050 premium (same 100.4) and the gear change is fine. I drove some mules of things, and the same laser would be a kicking mule.

Must say the JD 2850 SD cab where the gears are on the short gearstick on the RH side are lovely.
