I got the missus a kindel fire while in NY at christmass
    Unfortunately its since stopped working:(
Ive tried the whole pressing the power button for 20>30 sec as a reset?
    Dont work:(
Anybody any tips or know anyone who might be able to repair it?
It seems to be a re occurring problem with the fire.
Problem is, we dont live in the states. Apparently fires are being replaced
by amazon left right and center across the pond!

try charging it for longer (i.e. overnight) and try again.

i had he same problem and afaik i did the reset with the charger connected and it worked.

    if not, try here:
If you still can’t get your device to work, you can contact Amazon at either amazon.com/contact-us or by phone at the numbers below:

If that doesn't work give Amazon a call and tell them you purchased the tablet whilst on holiday in the states and you live in Ireland. It's not illegal!

I have never had to make a claim on a kindle but from hearing from people who have, Amazon appear to operate a no quibble guarantee and are very good at getting things sorted out to the customer's satisfaction.

Yep, email amazon, they'll more than likely send you a new one straight away.

Or simply a retailer who values their customers.

I know someone with an original kindle which they've owned from day one and when they had issues with it last month a few calls to amazon and they were issued with a brand new machine. far as im concerned that's in no way amazon saying that there were bugs in the original kindle but rather amazon recognising the importance of good customer care.

not really. i've got one too and aside from the one hard reset we've never had any issues with it despite it being used on a daily basis since christmas.

    Hi GlennTec
I have also purchased a Kindle Fire for my GF and we have now experienced the machine locking out. We have tried everything and nothing has worked.
My Q to you is can you share the phone number you used to call Amazon? I have checked their web sites and all the seems to be is a call back service.
If you could share the number it would really help me out.
    Many thanks in advance
    Gordon
