Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The bearings and belt have packed up on my washing machine, was making a horrendous noise and then just stopped turning the drum. Is it worth repairing an 8yr old washing machine and if so how much is it likely to cost?

A set of bearings could set you back about €120, plus bearing pullers, new belt, down time etc. You could try source them yourself, and engineer will charge €50 mi to make an assessment.
For a machine that is >5 years old - a new machine for €250.

Bearings for €120?? We'll try and keep away from your suppliers!!

Bearings and the seal should cost €30-40. Putting them in does not require bearing pullers but does need a rasonable amount of mechanical skill and a few tools. It takes a fair bit of time too even when you know what you're doing.

If you can do it yourself, and the machine is in good shape besides, it's well worth doing. If you have to get a service man to do it, I would get a new one.
