They do the payroll on the 15th of the month, so if you have your details into HR before the 15th then you should get paid on January 27th, for the period of January 7th to January 31st.

    Cheers for that. Panic over

Cheers man. Yeah, went very well. As tripper said, there's a great buzz about the place, and there're feck all of us there at the moment. Can only imagine what it'll be like when it's full

Not on the phones yet. 4 weeks training before that happens. But it's all good so far.

    Happy days!
They actually called me a couple of weeks back asking if I wanted to start early as someone dropped out. Made plans for over Crimbo so couldn't do it. Raging now though!

I have my first interview session coming up with sky and am terrified, can anyone please give me some pointers on what will be asked, I have never worked at anything like this before so don't know anything about it really, the position is for sales advisor, any help will be great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

@Happydays - First off its nothing to get to worked up about. at the end of the day its an interview not a firing squad.

Relax and be yourself is the best advice to give you. Do a little homework on Sky and what the current offerings are and you should be fine.

Arrive in plenty of time, Get your stuff ready the night before and plan ahead.

    Best of luck with it.

Is there full traning provided for these positions? Like if you have never worked in a call centre enviroment is it pointless applying for any of these jobs?

    Yes, 3 weeks training
One week theory, one week on the job and one week with your manager
Everyone can be trained as long as you can show willingness and initiative

Are you making that up as you go along?? Far from what the training is like!

Training is four weeks training with a training manager about the systems, products etc depending on positions. Then after four weeks it's onto the phones for live calls. This is all the training they do.

Hey Marco call centre experience not totally necessary our class is made up of differnet work backgrounds so an initial liking for working and talking to people will stand to you especially in customer service as Ciaran says training is extensive and covers all aspects really well so don't let that put you off :)

It's all good so far Ciarain. Haven't met yourself or tripper as yet. Clash of hours and what not.

The training is definitely "different". But it's good, as they don't seem to mind people being creative, or different thinking.

Having said that, I am in a room full of like minded techie nerds, so the conversations can be "intersting" to say the least. But it's good. It's not at all a stifling atmosphere.

And for any people who have done interviews, and are cynical about the emphasis placed on Sky being a fun place to work, I can assure you it is.

Like I had said in an earlier post, there's already a buzz about the place, which can only get even better as more people start.

might be a silly question but is the interview a formal one do i need to wear suit and tie?? also apart from the interview what else do you have to go through in the first round and wha does it involve, any help will be great

Hi again! I heard back and I have been invited to a selection session the week after next so hopefully all goes well. I am a bit nervous though in case I mess up :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

well 2nd assessment completed today - WOW is all i can say.... started at 13:00 and finished at 17:40 ish
a presentation without knowing the subject, then 2 role plays.... have never been so tired after an interview.

bloody afternoon started rubbish, forgot my lunch, went to shop to buy more and forgot my wallet, found a little cash on me so ok lunch was had, back to car and went to arrive in building nice and early and reception man told me to get the car shifted or he would have it lifted, so quick dash around ballsbridge to find parking and panicked as i did not know if i have enough coins for parking. ended up worrying about being clamped as we headed into the 2nd role play.... nightmare.....

no idea how i did but will find out next week... fingers crossed but will wait and see

Good luck to anyone interviewing today.

On reflection i let my guard down a little and feel a little disapointed in my performance yesterday in the Role plays. i know i should have and could have done better but let the events pre interview to cloud me. Still i am taking a lot from the 2 interview days and if not succesful with Sky it will stand me in interviews to come.

A word of advice to everyone who is stressing out about the interview process: stop.

Sky are not looking to hire people who do a textbook perfect interview. They are looking to hire people who display decent social skills and a certain amount of emotional intelligence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

Thanks Whirlpool - was stressing but after talking it over with a few people I am a little happier at my interview. Still taking a lot from the 2 days however ;-)

A big +1 from this. It's all about social interaction. There is a degree of how you think on you feet as well though.

Best of luck to all. So far, they're a great company to work for. With lots of promise and potential for advancement.

Nah, you shouldn't have. The word is they're hiring in phases until July of next year so you should be fine.

First week over, so end of week review time!

Just to make it sound as though the brain washing is working, it's a great place to work so far.

Colleagues are sound, atmosphere is great. Training is different, but very effective. Facilities are great, but will be even better when the canteen is open.

All in all, first impressions are very, very good. And when you see all the added benefits to working there, and the support and opportunities that are available, I can see why people work there for such a long time.
