    Hi :)
I have Sligo IT courses on my CAO, but i just haven't a clue what to expect from Sligo and I'm getting a bit nervous. I live in Tipperary so travelling up and down isnt an option so whats the area like?
is there things to do shops/clubs/sports etc...
whats the college like facilities and atmosphere?
    what accomodation to choose?
and most importantly what's the nightlife like?

    Thank you :p

Hi, I am in IT Sligo in 1st year. It is a great town for shopping. :). I don't know much about the sports but the college they do have a basketball team, badminton team and football.
The atmosphere is great, everyone is friendly and the support services are fantastic.
Would you be looking at student accommodation or private accommodation?
    Sligo has a savage nightlife.
Here are links to some clubs and pubs:

Shops : Good few shops about town and a 2 shopping centers.

    Accommodation :
    Student :
    Yeats Village *
    Ard Nua *
    Clarion Village *
    The Grove *
    Gateway Apartments(On College Ground)

    Private :
    Glencarraig *
    Mulberry *
    Yeats Heights *
    THe Mall(In Town)

All *'s are between 3-6 mins walk.

Good sports teams, Soccer,Gaelic, Rugby,Basketball etc.

As for the nightlife, id say its one the best in the country!
Because its so small compared to Galway/Dublin, there'll always be people you know out, places will always be fairly full, and is easy to make friends because the majority of students live within walking distance of each other.
It has imo the best Rag Week in the country(lives to its reputation).
The nightclubs always have promo nights and cheap nights on, aswel as the bars, where drinks are as cheap as 1.50.

A typical sligo night out in Sligo would be the Brewery Bar for a few drinks(2 mins away from college,on way to most estates)(vodkas - 2€, pints 3€+), Drinks in the house(of-license in the Brewery Bar), into town(2€ taxi usually), then usually into the Leitrim(1.50 drinks) or Shenanigans, then onto the nightclub, Either Pure(Most Popular), Velvet Rooms, Toffs, or The Clarence(Least Popular).

I went to WIT, have friends currently in Sligo- I am regretting not going there- the nightlife is brilliant- I try and make it up from my job in Galway every now and then- always a good buzz out
