What? They would still be free if a Government levy hadn't been introduced..

Fruit/Veg bags are for fruit and veg, not to take as you please.

I guess i must be the only one who knows this as its not mentioned on boards.

You can buy a rake of plastic bags for like~ €1 beside where you get the bin sacks. They can then be used for shopping, minimising the pinch of using plastic bags.

I've been in a supermarket with the rolls of bags right at the checkout, think it was dunnes.

In the early days of the tax I remember an auld fella buying bin liners and passing it through first on the checkout belt, then opening it and putting the rest of his stuff in them.

My parents were doing that 35-40years ago in Goobays in Lucan, The shop where auld wans would run you down with a fully laden trolly then go through your trolly for stuff that was gone off the shelves pallets.(processed Calvita cheese seemed to go very quickly, Maybe it was the 9p price?)

It is not a hike but I got 5kg of charcoal bricks in lidl for €5 (possibly €6 but pretty sure it was €5), the exact same brand (fuel express) & weight is €7.50 in tesco.

    Is it not 250ml? They're 3 for 2 now.

yes they are 250ml, and there 3 for 2. Still a sneaky way of getting a price increase in.

I logged into my Tesco account there and I noticed so many price changes in what I had in my basket from easter. I can't compare really, because I know a lot of them were deals, too.

Beware of wrong weights on Tesco products, especially when shopping online!

Today's example is Tesco pork loin chops 600g on sale for €3.29

This pack only weights 435g! That is a huge price increase that most people will never notice!

The price per kg (e7.57) is correct though - I'd have noticed that and shopped accordingly. It's just an error online imo

Lol my parents used to walk there with me in the buggy when I was a little tike. If I remember correctly what I was told it was owned by two brothers. :P

Anyone see the price of the back to school stuff? I was looking today at a folder and a notebook €7 each. I thought it must be labelled wrong so I scanned them.. €7! On the yellow label on the shelf it said 'special purchase' crazy prices.

Crazy prices is exactly what it is, have a look for the same stuff in Aldi. They will have it in soon enough.

all that stuff will be reduced to half price come the middle of August, they do this every year where they sell them at twice the price for July then half it in august, and reduce to clear in september,

it was always handy for college because we started later so like last year i picked up those pen sets for a few cent, and refill pads for €1

Special Purchase = the item that gives them the biggest profit margin, and that is not in any way reduced in price.

Tesco at it again stealing pork chops from their customers:D Despite this being brought to their attention over a week ago they are still falsely advertising the weight of this product.

Ohh.. this was you ordering it online and that's the one that was delivered?
If so, have they credited you in any way?
I'd be surprised if you didn't receive a gift card from them.

This is the 2nd time it has happened and they refunded the last time and have just rang me to say they will refund the €3.29 once again but if it happens again they will not refund me or entertain any claims. I think it is time to get onto the legal metrology service again!

This is not the first time tesco have pulled this stunt! They are still selling mandarin oranges advertised as 600g which are only 500g despite having been warned by the legal metrology service before. At that time they also refunded twice but on the third time they were saying I had to bring the item back to the store even though I had bought online. I offered to post them back at their expense but they were having none of it until I got the national consumer association and legal metrology service of Ireland involved.

lidl ones are 65c, and 300g. I expect the tesco ones might be 200g, either way I am not saying lidl are cheaper/dearer but they are very good quality, everyone I know who ate them was very impressed.

Aldi charge 49cent for theirs IIRC and they are a lot nicer than the awful tesco VALUE ones.

    Meh.
Tesco ones are milk 300g 59c
    Aldi dark 300g 49c
    Lidl dark 400g 65c

And yes the Tesco ones are rank, odd they are putting the price up

Cappachino, latte and expresso Nescafe sachets have rocketed in price. At a glance recently, the first bunch are now 4.08(strange price) up from 3.50. Equivalent in Lidl\Aldi but different brand of course are still sub 2 euro. No noticeable difference in quality, you'd want to be bonkers to pay double!

Lidl milk choc 400g are great quality. They sell for 65c in castlebar but in bundoran the exact same 1s are 89c.

Cadbury Hot choc: 4.62€, used to be 3.99€. Still old price at Supervalu and Dunnes. I know the price of cocoa has increased, but why only Tesco?

organic low fat milk: 1.23, was 1.19. Sure, the difference is only 4 cents, but still

I have to get my shopping done and use the click and collect as I can't push a trolley at the moment due to an injury. I can't wait to be able to go back to Lidl and Aldi, even Dunnes. Tesco is mad expensive, my shopping basket has increased by at least 15% by just shopping in Tesco.

It's a motivation to do my physio exercises and sort it out :D

Tesco seem to specialise in attempting to trick consumers by placing misleading 'Special Offer' banners near produce. They've been at it since they came here and show no sign of tightening up. Even if you're aware of this practice, it's very hard not to be caught out. You'd have to be almost forensic at times to figure out which particular package is 'on offer'. Then watch like a hawk at the checkout.

At least the German retailers are more reliable in this regard, they don't tend to have 'Special Offers' scattered all over the store. Where they do have them, the items are compartmentalised into specific places - like one side of a vegetable shelf etc. Honesty has a lot to be said for it when you want to keep customers..

The sale signs nearly always have the barcode of the item listed on them. You can cross reference them, I just look at the last 4 figures, its unlikely they will be the same.

There are 2 types of tesco large seeded burger buns. They both look like standard ones, i.e. not "value" or "finest", but they differ greatly in price and are often mixed up.

I do not mind the bogus tesco offers too much, as I know without them there would not be as many genuine offers, which are very often unadvertised.
