Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

we have been growing barley for feeding cattle for years and have always been sowing 18-6-12 with the seed. this year i would like to maximize yields and i am just wondering what fertilizer every other man is using and how much they are sowing?

we use 18-6-12 aswell. we give it about a bag and a half with the setting and then another two-three bags of 18-6-12 or two bags of can if p+k is alright.

Have a look here,, a decent crop of Spring Barley takes off 28 KG/Ha P and 75KG/Ha K.

Depending on your soil fertility you'd really want to be at least replacing that.

Thanks nilhg, I never knew oats was so hard on potash. Is anyone ploughing in slurry for barley? I'd like to try doing it on 5 acres, roundup only went out this week, don't think I'll ever win tillage farmer of the year.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
