According to some American dude on GBFM this morning (may have been the ambassador) there is an American parade leaving Eyre Sq at 7.45 and heading through town to the global village. Classic cars, bikes, marching bands, etc.
He said the fireworks are being let off at 10.45 and will last for 6 mins. There is a musical score being broadcast on GB FM to accompany the fireworks. Fireworks are being let off from Mutton Island so won't be best seen from the docks, head to global village/Grattan Rd/ the prom i'd say.

So, don't be late, 6 mins is all its gonna last.

I could of course have foregone a nights sleep if it was necessary, but it was completely unnecessary. That's the point. The sound system was made an utter balls of. I used earplugs they weren't nearly enough. They would be more than enough for neighboring house parties and the like, but what went on was far far more than that. And I wouldn't have been able to book time off work.

You are still refusing to acknowledge my argument so I'll ask you directly: How would all the economic benefits that you talk about have been harmed if the sound system had been set up properly and the noise levels reduced to something sensible?

Ah look, can we just leave it at this point. It was 2 nights ago. Unless we all go to do a gig technician course and get plenty of experience we won't be in any position to do anything about this even the next time Galway holds something big. Let's just say that some people didn't have problems with the sound and some people did. Let's leave it at that now, OK?

Why are you still complaining about the noise from Monday night? What's done is done and there's no going back but they will know better for next time to have a better sound system, whatever a better one is. If you're as put out as you say you are, you would think you'd catch up on the missed sleep instead of complaining about it and challenging your engergies by ranting over and over on it further exhausting yourself.

I'm not still complaining about the noise, nor ranting over and over on it. I'm arguing with LimGal. How come you're not responding to him and asking him to stop? I would have been happy to leave it at one complaint, it was LimGal and others who decided to argue the point.

oh and if anyone hasn't I think its worth noting that fireworks are loud so there might be some noise from the direction they are being set of from

Listen everyone on this thread has heard how you feel about the loud music at this stage.I think to be fair that everyone is sick of it now.You have even started to argue with more posters about it as well.

I was actually on the other side of the road towards the docks. I was using (with great difficulty in the crowds) a Canon 100-400mm lens.

Well since they won't be going on from midnight until six in the morning and they won't be nearly as loud, there'll be no complaint from me. Just like there hasn't been for all the other concerts and entertainments that have been going on at a reasonable time all week.
