Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Says clamping will not be allowed near hospitals but clampers will have access to car regs database and may get fine

Can they appeal fine and is giving access to car reg database in breach of data protection

I think the Examiner may have got this wrong. All the discussion is about clamping on private grounds including hospitals and not on street parking. This is going to be a problem for hospitals where parking is a scarce resource as it is.

How could giving access to the National Vehicle Register be a breach of data protection if they are given formal access to it?

Data can only be used for the purpose it was given.

So it's not a breach then, as one of the primary uses for the national vehicle file data (apart from noting who owns what) is road traffic enforcement.

So access to the database by private clamping firms would be perfectly in line with this purpose it was given. Provided that the firms given access would be held to a strict compliance regime. It would certainly be a stick to beat clamping firms with - adhere to the standards or we withdraw access to the register.

I would be more concerned about private firms using the data for other purposes i.e. selling details of vehicles and their owners to tracers, investigators, financial institutions and some elements of the media.
