When would we usually get our Jan exam results?

Officially May/June, other than that it is up to your department and lecturer.

I think some departments give them the first week back. Most seem to do it within the second/third week. A couple stretch all the way into March. But they're just provisional results, as they say. Once the externals take a look, sometimes marks can be increased. They say they can be decreased too, but I've only experienced/heard of the opposite.

It depends on what GY is? Most lecturers care about having the right answer for most of the marks anyway form is less important.

I think my course is probably the definition of "a load of lefty shíte" - but I'm a PC liberal tree hugging bleeding heart radical gone mad so I enjoy it thoroughly. Lol you would all hate my life so much :P :D

...does Banquo dare ask what course it is?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 obob24

Quick question, what happens when I fail a module in my course? Do I fail the entire course and have to take the exam again in Autumn?

If you get less than 25% or you cant compensate, you repeat that exam only in August. If you do the same in the August exam you repeat the whole year.

Now are you talking about getting less than 25% in the entire course or just that one exam?

Less than 25% in an exam and you have to repeat it. Like GarIT said, if you're below 25% you cant compensate and you'll be coming back in August to try again.

You should join the Socialist Party set up this year. 2 of my good friends are on the committee and there's events almost every week/2nd week AFAIK

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,905 ✭✭✭Dickie10

Socialists? Christ no, are they not all whinging joe Higgins types? God I hate Joe Higgins horrible lil man! I think im a USA Republican type,in some issues, like I say id be a good disciple of mick oleary, I believe that hard work and good morals will carry you pretty much anywhere! Id love to try a few things in social welfare to stop the waste in that dept. I definitely think that's a mile away from Socialism,

I would say the lefty element in the college has either died out or is in a slumber. If you look at the SU, I do not think any of them are affiliated with any of the left wing parties while a few of them are affiliated with the right wing parties. I say there is little interest in politics amongst the student body since the hacks have died a death.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,775 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

The student body in general is left leaning I would say, seems to be generally pro choice and stuff like that. Look at the uproar when those religious loons were in the arts block. From studying politics it just reaffirms to me that most students are centre left on a lot of issues.

Quick question, if any one can put my mind at ease would really appreciate it!

Had calculas 3 during the week, completely fu*ked up with the first part in a question, that mistake was carried the whole way through each of the other parts. Just wondering will i be marked completely wrong or just for the initial mistake? Was running out of time so even though the rest of the answers didn't exactly work out I just carried on through as I thought if I could show that I could use the method I would get marks from somewhere!

So mad with myself, don't know how I could of made such a stupid & obvious mistake that if I had of took a second to think I would of got it right!

Socialism couldn't be further from what he's looking for.

You can only get marked for one mistake once afaik. So if everything after that was right relative to your mistake, it'll be correct!

I don't think joining a soc that posts on facebook about curing the people of Maynooth of their capitalist disease is a good idea, a group that talks about 'curing the sick' when what they really mean is trying to spread socialism. Or a group that has slogans like "Capitalism = Sexism". From what I have heard they are about one complaint away from being shut down. Some socialists have some good ideas but the NUIM socialist soc are extremest loons.

On another note they have also broken data protection law by using emails gathered in a petition for abortion rights to add to their mailing list, unfortunately I haven't been able to find the colleges data protection office since the college change it's website. I also have reason to believe that they used the names from the abortion petition to get numbers up for their capitation application but the SU isn't as on the ball as it should be with dealing with it.

As I said, I neither understand nor will ever want to understand any elements of Politics so if so, excuse my comment

Possibly so, I don't get involved with the Society or their dealings at all!
