    Not much, it's just to make the Y value.

    eg, set x=2,3,4,5,6,7,8... ad you get your y values (which incidentally approach zero)

    Nope, just means your y value will be a fraction in the form 2/n, and your graph should look like this

    Wolfram gave me that! Looks solid based on what 1/x looks like! :D

    Nope, just means your y value will be a fraction in the form 2/n, and your graph should look like this

    That graph is incorrect. Looks like you plotted [latex]\frac{2}{x}-1[/latex] instead of [latex]\frac{2}{x-1}[/latex].

    Gonna have to excuse the maths questions, I'm sure it's the last thing some people want to think of! :P

    Buuuut, in this case if the equation is 1/2(x^3)+2

    Does the 1/2 make the curve steeper? Or broader?

    This is where brackets are all important. Are you trying to sketch:

    A: [latex]\frac{1}{2x^3+2}[/latex]
    or
    B: [latex]\frac{1}{2}x^3+2[/latex]
    or
    C: [latex]\frac{1}{2x^3}+2[/latex]

    Let us know which one you want and we can go from there.

    They found honey in the tombs of the pharoahs which was still edible.
    My question is - who tested this? Did someone just stick their finger in, have a nibble, and go 'yeah, it's still good!'?
    If so, who got stuck with that job?

    It was probably more a case of "hey look, this is the only thing in here which doesn't smell like death". Then they probably tested it on a cat or something before trying it themselves. That's about as scientific as food testing could have been in 1922.

    I'm putting it into smoothies, so we'll see. I need a lot more smoothie to dilute the taste.

    It's fascinating! but still gross.

    This graph is correct but the scale on the y-axis is misleading. It crosses the y-axis at y=2. It looks like it crosses at y=0 with the scale above.

    Thanks! So i'm still under the notion, that the 1/2 makes the graph wider? Still a bit confused about numbers before functions :P

    Remember that [latex]\frac{1}{2}x^3+2[/latex] generates the y-values. The y-values tell you how far up or down your points are. In our case, the [latex]\frac{1}{2}[/latex] is going to reduce the outputs (or y values) in comparison to a [latex]x^3+2[/latex] graph. Plot the two of them on the same axis and you should hopefully see what I mean.
