    Hi All,

    Could someone point me here in the right direction, I'm setting up a phone system and I have everything working and inbound calls are fine. However, when you ring in there is an american ring tone which I want changed to the UK/Irish ring tone.

    How do I do this? I have attached the GUI options and it is asterisk based if that makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance.

    Eh, I don't see any settings for the ring tone on those pages.

    Here are the settings used for a Cisco/Linksys ATA though :

    Tones:

    For an Eircom/Euro dial tone : 425@-19; 20(*/0/1)
    Irish ring tone: 400@-19,450@-16;*(.4/.2/1+2,.4/.2/1+2,2/0/0)
    Irish/Euro busy tone : 425@-19; 20(0.5/0.5/1)
    Irish/Euro reorder tone: 425@-19; 20(.25/.25/1)

    Ring voltage :

    Ring Voltage : 75
    Ring Frequency : 25
    Ring waveform : Trapezoid
    Ring Cadence 1 : 60(.4/.2,.4/2) (Irish style double-beat ring)

    Correct impedance settings for an Irish line, usually in the FXO tab:

    270+750||150nF

    600 Ohms is the standard US setting (as per your screen shot)

    Caller ID

    ETSI FSK using V.23 signaling - Option 1
    (The ring pulse version is used in Ireland, not the polarity reversal version as used in the UK)

    Caller ID selection should be France/Germany not UK!

    R-button compatibility : (Flash button on US phones is slightly different)

    Hook Flash Timer Min: 0.08 secs Hook Flash Timer Max: 0.25 secs

    The public system's CODEC is aLog for all European systems and uLog for the US/Canada/Japan.

    Cheers for that! Just to add for some searchers:

    http://www.3amsystems.com/wireline/tone-search.htm

    For asterisk (it's in indications.conf):
    [uk]
    description = United Kingdom
    ringcadance = 400,200,400,2000
    dial = 350+440
    busy = 400/375,0/375
    ring = 400+450/400,0/200,400+450/400,0/2000
    congestion = 400/400,0/350,400/225,0/525
    callwaiting = 440/100,0/4000
    dialrecall = 350+440
    ; XXX Not sure about the RECORDTONE
    record = 1400/500,0/10000
    info = 950/330,1400/330,1800/330

    ring = 400+450/400,0/200,400+450/400,0/2000
    congestion = 400/400,0/350,400/225,0/525
    callwaiting = 440/100,0/4000
    dialrecall = 350+440

    record = 1400/500,0/10000
    info = 950/330,1400/330,1800/330

    For Ireland just change as follows
    [ie]
    description = Ireland
    ringcadance = 400,200,400,2000
    dial = 425
    busy = 425/450,0/450
    ring = 400+450/400,0/200,400+450/400,0/2000
    congestion = 425/375,0/375
    callwaiting = 425/200,0/200,425/200,0/4000
    dialrecall = 440
    ; XXX Not sure about the RECORDTONE
    record = 1400/500,0/10000
    info = 950/330,1400/330,1800/330

    There are some other tones defined too e.g. :

    Message Waiting Ireland (MWI) 400/320,432/40

    Call Forwarding Active : 400/400,432/400

    Call progress tone / routing tone (rarely used these days as switches but, can be used if connection takes more than a second to complete)

    425/60,0/60

    This was played out on some switches to indicate that the call was being processed or that you needed to wait for a response.

    I found these on an eircom document!

    Thanks for that- much appreciated.

    Just a note that the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) isn't really used on tones by an IP PBX, but more on the phones that generate internal tones. But good to know if I need it :D

    Thanks for the Call progress tone as well, might come in handy somewhere!

    Eircom's network tones are basically ETSI (Euro standard) tones + a UK style ring tone.

    They've a few of their own ones, which are generally the same as France oddly enough for things like Message Waiting and Call Forwarding.

    The main reason for this is eircom use a lot of Alcatel E10 switches which are French in origin. So, I suspect they just use similar tones to France Telecom/Orange.
