The census have a petty good idea though - so I'll stick with their take on things - which suggests no more than 1.7 milion liable properties - and consequently, a lower number of owners. There's really no scope for any continuing million non-payers.

Why is the USC called a charge? It doesn't really matter - it's a tax levied by the state, and one that isn't discretionary.

So, just like the poll tax then?

But, wait! That wasn't fair (in your opinion) the household charge has been deemed as unfair by close to one million citizens of Ireland.

Tell me, who made you judge, jury and executioner?

Why does your views carry some sway, but close to a million other peoples don't?

The poll has moved further to the NO's and in the next few days it will be even less representative of the position in the real world. The thread lacks balance.

I really don't care how embarrassed Phil Hogan might or might not be. Nor do I care about your sockpuppet paranoia, or leech nonsense. That help?

That has (like your excuse for refusing to answer Paddy) been answered approx a hundred times more on this thread, than your own explanations as to your apparent tax evasion in the UK.

    Good for the goose.

    C'mon alastair, spit it out.
You'll feel much better for it.
It's good to talk and it'll save paddy's fingers.

@ alastair Please answer the question and we can all move on. Poll tax was back in 1989/1990 so you are forgiven for not paying. I assume you paid the council tax, it was a fairer system.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,951 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

There were accusations in the original thread that people posting against the Don't Register Don't Pay message were Fine Gael placemen. Is it possible that the bias in the poll is from placemen from anti government parties?

    Take it however you like.

I've answered it numerous times on this thread.

Paying something, to get nothing in return (unlike rates in the north for example) would be my starting objection.
