Show me your figures to back up this stat and I'll show you figures that show that Liverpool's average wage has actually increased in the last 12 months despite getting rid of massive earners.

Obviously someone in LFC didn't know about him.
Fair point about the wages but -afford to buy him....are you serious? 6 months prior Carroll was purchased for 3 million less.

You are missing the whole concept of exposure on the player, just one player.

Firstly, Aguero is a top player, never going to LFC.

Secondly, his contract at city will cost city 30 mil more in wages than the wages Carroll is on, over their respective contracts. Thats just one player, now equate that to a dozen or more.

Transfer fees are only part of a deal, what you pay the man every week amounts to more over full contracts., more than the amount of the fee.

Its not about affording to buy players, i could go out and buy a horse tomorrow good enough to get races all over the country but i wouldnt be able to afford to feed, house and vet the animal for the next few years.

The real question is how much of your milk would the horse drink. :D

I may be mistaken but aren't these figures taken from 2009-2010 season if you read where the figures came from. Would they liverpools accounts from this year.

Well then it's not really a misguided argument.
He got rid of first team players and brought in mostly potential and squad players.
That's poor business in anybody's book.

what first team player did he actively get rid of

Torres and Meireles for starters. Then there's Cole and Aquilani who were not regulars by any means but were in the squad as high profile players that you would expect to have been established first teamers and would want to be replaced with likewise.

That would mostly be "free" transfers, Jova, Maxi and Cole spring to mind. The club didn't have big money to invest so went for high wages instead. Big clear out last Summer as well so that figure will drop significantly.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Kenny wasnt even manager when these figures were taken which was supposed to be his orginal point.

Could be, I guess we'll see in time. I tried to check the united wages against the report that came out earlier this week, but couldn't find uniteds current wage bill in there. You'd need to need a degree in accounting to work out some of the stuff thats published in the financial reports.

It wasn't really my point, but I understand what your saying.
