Wharfedale S500s - magnetically shielded?

Just dug a pair of old Wharfedale S500s out of the attic. Tested them on the POS stereo we use in the kitchen and they still sound fantastic! Looking forward to testing them with the new Onkyo box once it arrives this week.

Only problem is that due to the size and shape of the living room, they'll need to be within about 2 feet of the tv/receiver/ps3/sky box. We often watch videos from a portable HDD via the ps3, so shielding is a concern (these speakers are mid-1990s vintage). I can't find any info online re shielding. Short of opening the feckers up, is there any (non-destructive) way of checking if they're shielded or not?

2' from a HDD should be fine. It's own casing should provide some protection. Magnetic field strengths drop very quickly with distance. So long as the speakers don't have a steel cabinet - in which case they would be shielded - you could pass a compass near them and see if the needle moves.
