Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Eh, anything that exchanges heat. The coil on a cylinder is a heat exchanger.

But I think you may mean heat exchange ventilation. This is a system that takes cold fresh air on one side, and warm stale air from the house on the other side. It then tries to transfer the heat from the stale air into the fresh air, and blow that fresh air back into the house.

Usually you collect stale air from rooms like the kitchen and bathrooms, and blow the fresh warmed up air into the living rooms. The idea is to get fresh air into a house without losing the heat.

It works well on houses that are well sealed and draught-proof, but not on leaky houses AFAIK.

A domestic heat exchanger is normally used to transfer heat from a solid fuel back boiler to a pressurised heating system like underfloor heating
As solid fuel has to be vented, the only way it's possible to connect to a pressurised system is by the heat exchanger.
    Hope this helps

Hi spotted this thread and wanted to ask about under lawn heat exchangers. Is there such a thing? What are the recommended amounts of sunlight for this to be worthwhile and the main thing: cost!!!

    Thanks guys

I think you're talking about geothermal. A loop placed in your lawn extracting or rejecting heat, hence a heat exchanger?

Sunlight is not a major issue. Cost is completely dependent on heating/cooling requirement.

Thanks for the post - do you have any ballpark at all on cost?

Not without house size and insulation spec. Otherwise its how long is a piece of string.
