Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    So I got a Honda CBF250. I have a couple of questions.

    1. What grade engine oil should I be using?

    2. Brother got up on it in the driveway and pretty much instantly drove it into a pillar. Bent the gear selector thing (the thing you put your toe under/over to change gear). Still usable but I will want to get it replaced at some point. How much does that generally cost?

    3. Got off the bike this evening and in my clumsiness it sort of fell into me, stopped it hitting the ground but messed up the mirror a bit on my chest (chest is fine). Again will want to get that fixed, how much does that generally cost?

I imagine bikes go through a fair few knocks and stuff like this is common enough, also fairly sure we haven't seen the end of my clumsiness so hoping these things are easily replaced.

    Cheers,

    Shane

    10w40 oil should do it.

You would be best to call up a honda dealer and get a price for the gear shift. If its not a reasonable price just get the part number from them and you might be able to get it online cheaper.

A brand new mirror on wemoto.com is £13.33

To add re the oil type. 10w40 is perfect but make sure it's motorcycle oil as it has to lub the clutch as well.

You can try bend the gear lever back into shape before you replace it. If it's hard try applying heat to it from a blowtorch or similar.

Probably not the best idea. Even if he does get it bent back it will be very weak metal and may break at any time.

Very true. But it might do temporarily til he gets a replacement.

Mirror will cost between €45-€55 to replace it. Put my thumb through the mirror last year!

Hope the damage wasn't too bad?
