Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thought Id post this here as well as the preschool forum..

I am looking into doing a montessori teaching course after I finish my completely irrelevant degree!redface.gif

At the moment Im looking at:
Graduate montessori training with the AMI : 1 year long, full time
Montessori teaching diploma with Portobello : 1 year, part time
    Montessori FETAC level 6 components : 1 year, p/t or f/t

Im also trying to find out about the advanced certificate in childcare supervision, and I know this is required for a full award.
I do want to be finished in a year as I have already been in college for a good few years now.

    Anyone got any advice?
Wondering about how intensive the course is, and the prospects of jobs and if you can open up your own school in a few years time.

    Thanks biggrin.gif

Go with the AMI 1 year full time HETAC level 8 course. At least you'll be eligible for the higher capitation rate in the ECCE scheme eventually with that course. The lower rate of ECCE applies to the FETAC 6 Montessori courses. And as your coming from a degree, you'd be very bored with FETAC.

The AMI course has an excellent reputation and if you propose to open your own group in a few years, its definitely the way to go.

    That's great thanks..

Would you know if the course is really difficult? I'd hate to pay all that money and not be able for it!

I didn't know that the ami one made you eligible for the higher grant.
I didn't see that on the website?

    Hi,

I've sent you a long private message.

Also forgot to mention : http://www.snmci.ie/higher-diploma-arts-early-childhood-montessori-education.html which also has a very good reputation.

    hi there,

I know its a while since you posted re AMI Montessori course, but Im wondering if you could help me.. Im a mature student hoping to return to complete montessori training after a career in Social Work.. someone recommended St Nicholas' course to me but I would love to talk to you as you said AMI is the best option?
Also, would the St Nicholas' HDip course entitle to higher capitation and higher wages ultimately?

Many Thanks for any help as Im feeling a bit lost about all this - the St Nicholas's website doesnt give a lot of info Im afraid ...
