Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have any boardsies accidentally emailed or shown porn that they had stored on their USB sticks/computers to to others? And if so...what happened?
    Yes:o

Was loading some AV software onto my mother's PC when my....ahem...private photography collection loaded up on screen. Stupid photo software set to automatically display pictures on inserted media:mad:

Much keyboard mashing and Alt-F4 repeatedly, wretched the USB stick from the machine and beat a hasty retreat. "Uhhh wrong memory stick.....I'll look for the right one". Don't know if she noticed but was never brought up again.

    Money

They earn very little, there may be free accomadation and a car but you wouldn't send children to college, get the wife a car, family holiday and more.

A diocese is expected to fund themselves and some are struggling like Dublin.

Pay them a real salary so but are the parishioners ready to donate even more in the weekly collections?

I'm going to get quoted and what about the billions in Rome, the diocese funds itself and doesn't get that money

And that was a good point above, is a divorced wife going to take the house that belongs to the area?

Other faiths seem to get by.

Wow those priests are real freaks aren't they ?

If I was to walk down a dark alley and saw a figure in a gimpsuit with full latex / leather breathing through a snorkel versus a priest in the dark alley I know who I'd take my chances with.

The priest had a mare. No question about that

Gay men in Ireland have been joining the priesthood forever. In traditional Irish Catholic society being gay wasn't acceptable and the priesthood was a way a man could live his life, meet like-minded people, earn a decent living and not have to go thru either a sham marriage or explain his continued bachelorhood.

As long as he ain't interfering with kids, fair play to him and I hope he's ok today. He must have been extremely embarrassed by this incident and he is human being who has hurt nobody.

Why oh why does the mention of being gay seem to translate into possible pedophile to so many people? :(

If someone is 'outed' as being straight, no one ever qualifies their comments with 'as long as she/he doesn't touch kids...'

I doubt its a prank. Not all computer setups flash through all the images on a memory stick when it is plugged in, I'm guessing the priest wasn't aware as this never happened on his own machine. I don't think Windows does it by default either, there could have been another photo viewing software installed on the computer with autorun set to check for media

Rubbish:eek: I have gay friends and never has the thought of them being paedophiles crossed my mind. When I finnd out somebody is gay, my paedophile radar stays silent. It does genuinely go off when I hear that somebody is a priest.

Try a game of word association in Ireland and start with 'gay', I would be surprised if anyone came up with paedo. Now try the same with 'priest'. Unfair maybe but not being a practising catholic, the only time I hear the term priest is when they are in the news for fcuking children.

The comment with "interfering with kids" had nothing to do with being gay as far as I can see.

I've never heard of gay being associated with pedo outside of the discussions of far right evangelical yanks.

I don't understand why people are feeling sorry for the priest. yea he's human, and there is nothing wrong with being gay, but this is a very influential guy who actively preaches that being gay is a sin, and you're going to hell unless you somehow straighten yourself up. charming.

i remember a long time ago in a certain christian brothers school
where we had been reading george orwells animal farm
and the teacher had brought in the video of the book.
he pressed play and on came this porno with horses and dogs in it
we were only kids it was mad but we still knew it was the teacher in the wrong:-p

He's hardly Justin Beiber, Mark Zuckerburg, Bill Gates or Lionel Messi. I sympathize with him because of what happened not because of what he represents.

Even if he does preach against homosexuality on Sunday and practice it on Monday, I still feel sorry for him. It can't be/have been a very pleasant life.

I more feel sorry for the priest this is a cruel way to be outed. He made a mistake and that is all he did. Whether he is fantasising about it or expressing it, I have no problem with anyone having a consensual and non offensive sexuality.

He is man he pulls his plum I guarantee it and obviously thinking about gay pornography, so what.

Thankfully the days of pictures and videos of humans getting it on with horses are well and truly finished.:pac:

But when he's not pulling his plum he's representing an organisation that condemns the pulling of plums and directs those who pull each others' plums to hell.

    Poetic justice imo.

Why is it relevant that it was gay porn? Does that make it wronger?

its OK for you because you don't follow him, but what about the young males that attend his church and are confused about their sexuality, or gay. imagine asking him for advice, and him telling you its wrong to be gay. how awful would that make you feel?

It adds to the irony and hypocrisy.

Yeah true, but its a human thing, people can deny their sexuality for years, perhaps entering the priest hood he thought those feeling would go away. Of course they don't. Remember homosexuality was illegal and only decriminalised in Ireland in 1993. I know this happened in Northern Ireland and that is not a good place to be gay in either.

Its only in recent years that gay sexuality has become acceptable.

maybe we are looking into too much irrelevant detail.

Person giving presentation in front of people and accidently uses memory stick with porn. People see porn, person runs away embarrassed.

    I feel sorry for person.

Yes, when you ignore the ignorance and hypocrisy of said person you can feel sorry for them.

But if you don't ignore that aspect of it then they don't deserve your sympathy, in my opinion.

The man, as a priest, represents an organisation that actively dismisses the sexuality of others and actively opposes rights for those people. He does that while full-well knowing he himself is one of those people who the organisation he represents attempts to oppress. He is a hypocrite and a liar. And no doubt he will get a taste of his own medicine.

You're right, stopping feeling sympathetic for hypocritical people would save me a lot of time. From today no more sympathy for anyone who tells lies either.

No more sympathy for those who use hypocrisy and deceit to actively oppose the inherent rights of others based on arbitrary distinctions would be a better approach.

FFS forfuxsake, don't you get it? The man is a member of the Catholic Church. He doesn't deserve any human sentiment. Is this your first time in a mob or something?
