FEA Query

Bill dated 23/8/11 for billing period 24/6/11 - 18/8/11 stated:
"units allowed next period 603 incl carryover 203"

Bill dated 24/10/11 for billing period 19/8/11 - 20/10/11 only allowed a total of 503 units incl carryover.

I presume this is because the FEA reduction from 400 to 300 happened between the issuing of each bill?

The second bill also showed a "FEA adjustment rebate" of €3.52 + VAT (credit).

Can EI please confirm when the reduction from 400 to 300 actually took effect from and what exactly the "FEA adjustment rebate" is and how it is calculated?

    Thanks, Paul

    Hi Paul,

Can you send me the Electric Ireland account number associated with the statement above?

And also, the full name of the account-holder, the address on the account, and the telephone number and date of birth?

Just to advise: for data protection/security, we can only discuss account specifics with the named account-holder.

    Thanks and regards :)

Thanks to Una at Electric Ireland for the quick response.

For the record, the general situation regarding the reduced FEA is as follows:

As of 1st September 2011, the Department of Social Welfare reduced the Free Electricity Allowance from 400 units to 300 units per billing period. FEA customers were entitled to receive the old 400 units allowance up to 1st September, so a customer being billed after 1st September would have received the higher allowance rate for the period prior to 1st September. It would have appeared as an additional line on the customer's bill: "FEA adjustment rebate" with the corresponding amount. This item appeared on all FEA bills until the end of October.
