Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Posted this before on this forum before but sure I'll go again, easy enough anyways;

2 teams have gotten into 5 consecutive CL/EC semi finals, name them and the years.

One has to be the real team that won it five times in a row either 56 or 57 to 60 or 61. They said it last night on tv. Barca now? They've been in it since 08-12?

Jankauskas is right. Santa Cruz isn't because a man named Juan Aguero won a medal for Real Madrid in 1966.

National team they've been capped for.

Their national team was Yugoslavia whereas Pandev is the only one to have won it and been capped by Macedonia.

    Yep, correct.

    Spot on as well.

Darko Pancev played for Macedonia 6 times after winning the EC.
I was sure Montero had won a CL but he lost three finals with Juve after joining them when they were champions.

It must be a trick question, no set of brothers played that day.

Name the most successful club in the history of English football by number of trophies won, not including single game competitions like the charity shield or super cup?

Jesus completely forgot about this. Right you are, Real from 1956-1960 (who of course went on to win every one of those ties and indeed the finals) and Barca now from 2008-2012 (who lost to Man United in 2008, Inter in 2010 and won in 2009 & 2011 beating Man United on both occasions).

I don't know the answer but I can think of 2:

How many current players in the premier league have a champions league medal that they didn't win with an English team.

Y Toure and Balotelli. Also Ferreira with Porto. That's three.

Yaya Touré with Barca in 2009.
Patrice Evra has a silver medal from his time at Monaco.
    Salgado with Madrid in 2000 & 2002.
Nico Anelka (still at Chelsea officialy) with Madrid in 2000.
    Balotelli with Inter in 2010.
Owen Hargreaves with Bayern in 2001.
Berbatov also has a losers medal from his days at Leverkusen.
Paulo Ferreira with Porto in 2003.

    So 8?

    Losers medals are for losers.

    Bosingwa has one from Porto.

So that's Anelka, Hargreaves, Balotelli, Ferreira, Salgado, Toure & Boswinga? Seven? I wouldn't have got Salgado.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

    Got one.

How many different Spanish clubs have appeared in major European finals - that is EC/Champs League, Fairs/UEFA/Europa, and the old Cup Winners Cup?

    Name all of them.

And it's not Italy, Brazil or France as they have all been eliminated in first round as winners. More pointless knowledge.

Probably a mid-carder like Sweden or Hungary?

    Mexico?

Good guess, despite progressing to the second round in every tournament since '86 (And banned in '90), they were eliminated at the first round a large number of times before that.

Think teams that haven't qualified a huge number of times.

    We have a winner!
Indeed Ireland only qualified for the '90, '94 and '02 tournaments but have never been knocked out in the first round. 3 times is the most anyone has ever done this.

Ok I'll start us with the easy ones:

    Real
    Valencia
    Seville
    Athletico Madrid
    Athletico Bilbao
    Villareal
