HT plain wire - what length in a roll?

    Quick one...

    Anyone know off hand what length of wire is in a 2.5mm (25kg roll) of HT tinsley plain wire?

    A quick calculation - 2.5mm diameter & 7.87 g/cm3 (normal for steel), then that gives a length of 650 metres for a 25Kg roll. In theory anyway..

    Are you sure it's 2.5mm. 12G wire is 2.05mm which would work out at about 965Metres for 25Kg.
    I was thinking about getting some myself...

    Yes it's 2.5mm. Have one roll left over from a few years ago and had the label still on it. Thought I'd get the length off it, but only the dia and the weight!

    I've about 2km of single strand to put up over the Easter.

    Got a few rolls of the green Tinsley stuff recently, 'twas 200m per roll, c. €45 a time.

    25 Kg of 12G (2.05mm) high tensile is €59 with Glanbia.
