O2 Ireland is to seek 120 redundancies from its Irish workforce of 1,100 people.
The operator, which is the second largest in Ireland with almost two million customers, said that the redundancies were the result of “challenging market conditions, including a fiercely competitive telecoms sector”.
The company said that the move followed a review of its business operations in Ireland.
O2’s last set of financial results saw a sharp fall in revenue for the operator in Ireland.

    That's just over 10% of it's workforce

Telefonica don't directly run Tesco nor 48. Those simply run on the 02 network.

    48 are connected to o2
For those who are interested in where we have come from, we are independent but we are part of the overall Telefonica Digital family.

48 is a trading name of Telefónica Ireland Limited which is registered in Ireland (company number 234895) with a registered office of 28/29 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2.

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest. O2 have become just about the most expensive network out there. This at a time when people are tightening their belts and trying to cut costs.
