Given his stated believe that Catholic influence declining in this country is a good thing and given that most Irish Christians are Catholic it is completely intolerable that someone opposed to their Faith to such a degree should be mod of the Christian section. It was shameless of him to accept the post in the first place. He must go.

Mods should be in proportion to the actual numbers of people in their Church or denomination in the country as a whole. Thats only fair.

nonsense, best mods for the job is how it should be and not some denominational based quota system.

It's the Christianity forum, so non-Catholics (and non-Christians) should be able make such a comment as long as they don't breach the charter.

If you can read this, you're too close!

IMHO that comment by PDN is bigoted, uncalled for and unchristian! :(

FYI the CC is not a denomination it's the first Christian Religion, all 'other' christian churches are denominational!

To have an outright enemy of their Faith as opposed to someone who just disagrees it as mod of the section dealing with their Religion is not really acceptable given that Catholics make up most of the Christian population.

Nothing wrong with the comment whatsoever, plenty of Catholics would agree with PDN's sentiments entirely.

Without getting into a theological debate the fact is that radical evangelicals make up what proportion of the Christian population yet they dominate the modship of the Christian forum.

What percentage of the population of the frequent users of the Christianity forum would be Roman Catholic though?

This is all sounding very familiar for some reason.

Christianity is a religion. Catholicism is a denomination of that religion.

To describe PDN as "enemy of their Faith" won't do you any favours in this discussion.

If a Catholic mod made the comment, would it be acceptable?

Yes there are plenty of Catholics would like see what they believe is the Divinely revealed Truth having reduced influence- millions of them! Please be serious- and note he said Catholicism and NOT the Church hierarchy and note again that he didnt qualify the statement by saying that he would like to see another form of Christianity increase in influence which is what makes the comment SO sinister.

He is allowed by the state to hold such opinions however that he would hold them and yet take on the job of mod of the Christianity section here was utterly shameless.

How else can be described given that comment?

He is an enemy of the Catholic Faith.

he can be described as not Catholic. It's certainly a less hostile way to start a thread.

and you didn't answer if a Catholic mod made the comment, would it be acceptable?

    I'm sorry.

Somebody who is on the site just three months does not get to say who stays and goes.

    Political beliefs.
    Gender.
    Religious beliefs.
    Sexual preferences.
    Skin colour.
