    I wrote to the Veterans section in Galway requesting pension records for my Grandfather (old IRA and civil war). I got an email back which said it would be several months before they got back to me.

    However a useful piece if information that they did give me was "For your information the Military Service Pension files are currently being processed for phased release online before the Anniversary of the Easter Rising in 2016".

    Looking forward to another online resource for family history researchers. :)

    They are a friendly lot. I have had a few contacts with them and need to scan some negatives before I give them the originals.

    Have you looked at the Dail Debates for Old IRA pension info? There were PQs on who was in receipt of what and when. At the bottom of the page on this link there is a list http://debates.oireachtas.ie/dail/1937/03/10/printall.asp A search would give you more.
