RED BULL team manager to talk to both Marussia and HRT

Red Bull's advisor Helmut Marko says the team have sent their manager to Marussia and HRT after Sebastian Vettel's run-in with Narain Karthikeyan in Malaysia.

The Indian driver was punished by the stewards for causing the collision, but that clearly wasn't enough for Red Bull as they asked their team manager to have a word with HRT and Marussia.

"We have told our team manager to talk to both Marussia and HRT about getting their drivers to pay more attention," Marko told Austria's Servus TV.

He added: "They drive in a different league, they are six or eight seconds slower, and so they need to watch out more.

"The 12 points which Vettel lost could be crucial in the World Championship."

Vettel has spoken on the NK issue

the Red Bull racer has now come out saying he has no reason to feel bad about he said as he was only expressing his emotions. "I lost a solid fourth place, so that's obviously disappointing," the reigning World Champion told German newspaper Sport Bild.
"Sometimes you let some emotion show, and I don't think someone should be ashamed about that."

BS - It was Vettel's fault for a terrible overtake. He cut back across the guy, clearly. Did he think it was a ghost timing car or something?

This Vettel incident has already been discussed to death on the Malaysia race thread. It hardly needs a new thread.

This is not about the crash.

This is about team managers getting involved. This is about GP2 cars running around the back of the field getting in the way. It will be interesting to see what happens. Marussia and HRT should not be in F1 at the moment.

I dont see why they shouldnt be on the grid. Both teams have pretty much been laughable additions to F1 but, by and large, they have qualified cars within 107% of the pole time and are building their own chassis. They meet the stipulations set by the regulations and while there are probably more suited teams to be on the grid the fact is that both Marussia and HRT are doing enough to justify their place on the grid

I really dont get what all the fuss is about this incident. If Vettel had tagged the back of a Williams or a Force India would there have been anything like the longevity of this story?

Why not let other GP2 teams in then to race.

I think 2 seconds between the cars should be the permitted difference.

True Far worse has happened. I think the media wanna drag SV down a peg or 2, which is unfair. He got blamed for it when it was nothing to do him.

The most fundamental concept of F1 is that you have to design and build your own car, or in the case of what HRT has done the first couple of years pay for an outside manufacturer to design their car. If a team can prove that they have produced a unique car they have earned the right to try and qualify.

The GP2 teams obviously would not meet this criteria even though they could lap competively compared to Marussia and HRT. The fact is that 107% is the measure of success for these teams. Getting on the grid is all they want to achieve and while 2s may be your desire it would also remove a lot of other cars from the grid rather than just the tail enders

Ferrari have to prove beyond doubt that their new car is designed and manufactured by them. You see similiarities between cars all the time

In Australia and Malaysia we would have seen six cars not qualify so only 18 cars take the grid. All of the new teams were over two seconds slower than the fastest Q1 time. I remember when we had grids that size and the sport looked pathetic. I think that the 107 should be enforced stringently and can see why it should be lowered and 105 would be a better measure for performance

He done himself no favours by acting the way he did, sticking his finger up & calling NK an idiot. If Hamilton done that he'd be burned at the stake.

He's not unknown to making mistakes himself, Button can testify to that effect. You didn't see Button reacting like a spoiled brat after that incident. SV does not own the racetrack.

I get the feeling there is a lot of frustration at Red Bull. Just like they keep complaining about the mercedes rearwing/drs/f-duct.
Last year Vettel was all smiles and now he's calling other drivers idiots. I don't think Red Bull know where the problem is in there car. Since their dominance is ,thankfully, gone.

Yeah Hamilton would have been roasted by the media for doing this, remember last year in Belgium with Koba?

Vettel's fault totally, he was overtaking the slowest of all backmarkers on a straight, it was up too him to be sure he was clear of Narian when he cut back in. Amateur error.... and they send a manager down to HRT to complain? Perrrlleease.

Just shows how much Red Bull revolves around Vettel only.
