Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi, not sure if this question should be asked here or in the motors forum.

    My uncle moved back to Ireland over a year ago, he brought a jeep with him. He had only recently bought the jeep before moving back, he had it around 6 months in England. When he brought it in he had no issues with registering it, no vrt because he had been living in England, so the jeep has been on Irish plates since. Over a month ago customs have contacted him looking for 4 grand vrt which they claim is due on the jeep is this acceptable? Considering that a year ago they had no issue with him bringing in the jeep a year using the same information.

    Your post is unclear as to how long he owned it before moving. Technically he's supposed to have owned it for more than 6 months before he relocated to Ireland to qualify for an exemption.

    the tax man can come at any time but they should have really advised him of his liability when he registered the jeep.

    Does he still own the Jeep?

    @ BrianD, yeah turned out he moved back a week before the 6 months of the jeep being registered in his name. But his main issue is when he registered the jeep last year there was no problem and the approved him importing his jeep without charging any vrt on it. So they said then he wasn't liable for any charges, he got his Irish reg plates. And now they have came back and said he is liable for 4 grand.

    @ResearchWill, yea still has it.
