Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

I have a question or two that somebody might be able to answer

My mate from Scotland has a court appearance next month for being in possession of a weapon and I'm wondering what the likelihood of him getting into serious trouble would be.

I'm gonna call my mate "john". So John was out with his brother last christmas and a group of lads punched his brother. John then had a scuffle with the lads, one of the lads picked up a stick. John picked one up too. The police came, the lads ran off and now John is up in court..

So..What do you think will happen?
Will he get a fixed fine or community service..or both?

I don't think he has any previous record.
He has a Job. 9-5 and doesn't cause trouble.

p.s - John never hit anyone with the pole

"One guy picked up a stick, john did too"

"John didnt hit anyone with the pole"

Which is it a stick or a pole? I advise getting his story straight first.

What's wrong with carrying a pole? Your friend John should bring the pole to court and claim that he always carries it on him, and that they got it all wrong. Case dismissed.

We need to clamp down on the vermin like this who make us afraid to walk alone at night, mandatory sentences, prison shouldn't be a holiday camp, what about my human rights? and so on.

Also, don't tell the judge you have a username called "monst3r kill."
It won't reflect well on you.

This is not the dark ages where you had to use your own food stuffs. Rotten fruit and veg will be provided.

    Scottish court? In Britain?
Why do you ask on an Irish forum?

On topic, good thing the UK have abolished the lethal injection, except in Glasgow.

I was looking forward to a fight to the death between a scotch & a Pole. Whoever loses we win!

    Maybe he/she is Irish?

Actually there really clamping down on this sort of thing(especially in Glasgow) so your friend I'm afraid is for the 'high jump'!

No lethal injection in Glasgow though(not the kind you can talk about in polite society anyway:rolleyes:)!

    Scot, with pole, in court..

The most obvious line of defence is to claim it was just an impromptu Morris Dance Off that the cops misinterpreted as a street crime.

Surely a Scotsman would use the old "it's a minature caber m'lord" excuse.

If the judge is not convinced get "John" to do some examples of his caber tossing techniques.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,199 ✭✭✭artvanderlay

Can we change John's name to Jock and the pole's name to Tomasz just to make it easier to distinguish between the Scot and the Pole?

Now let's start again; Jock hit someone with Tomasz and now they're both up in court? Is that right?

Happened to a mate of a mate of mine, picked up a shovel handle in a garden to defend himself from a gang of lads that had set upon him. Coppers show up, nick him. He gets to go to court with scummers as the injured party.
