Please help me identify the connection on this hard drive

Ok so a mate gave me a hard drive which she took out of an external USB encloser so I could get pics off it cos the usb board had failed in the encloser

no problem i said

but when i got the drive it looked like this


now i know that type of usb connection, it's the same as many blackberry's and samsung phones take.

when i plug a USB into that a light comes on on the drive but no spinning

i am wondering does it need additional power form those IDE like pins it has and if so where the hell am I going to get a connection like this so I acess this drive.

getting the original case is not an option as she threw it out.

Look like it might (hopefully) be some sort of adapter piece attached to the actual (Sata or IDE) drive connectors. I would imagine it should seperate from the drive fairly easily. That could well be the part that is not working.

If it is a custom USB controller PCB that is a big problem as it would be very difficult to repair:(

EDIT seems to be an older pcb so the solder points might not be the same, read the comments.
