I was told that back in the 90's when I had a vega test but I went to a doctor in Dublin a few years back who specialises in allergies who did the pin prick tests, 60+ of them and I wasn't allergic nor had any intolerance issues with any of the items tested and had nasal endoscopy which was interesting to watch on screen.

The only allergy I have is to an antibiotic.

That was like going to see a psychic for the human body. He knew the problem I have and why I have it.

Does he do a range of tests and how much does it cost. My 7yr old has dennie morgan folds which is sore swollen eyes that make him look sick and tired all the time. It started out of the blue so he is allergic to something but i dont know what. I dont know where to start regarding allergy testing so any help or recommendations would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks

Matt is excellent, my daughter suffers from eczema, spent fortune on doctors, specialists and creams over the years. She was always thirsty and had stuffy nose in mornings, I mentioned this to pediatrician in hospital and she totally disregarded it. Brought her to Matt and first thing he asked was is she always thirsty and sneezing in the mornings? She suffered with her bowel too and he basically diagnosed her with a lazy bowel which caused build up of heat in her body, came out as eczema and dryness of skin. It was amazing, it was like someone finally knew my daughter!! Took her off all processed food, high sugar foods etc and within two wks her skin cleared up, it was amazing. That was about 6 years ago and though she has had flare ups, she has been great. One visit, one €50, totally worth it.

Yeah but you could be intolerant to different things we were ;)

It's worth the €50 if you have it. The whole process was quite interesting.

If testing for 60 different food allergies as mentioned does this mean 60 pricks:eek:

I wouldn't worry, sure one prick can do a lot of damage too ;)

Yeah but they're in strips of 10 or 12 so you have that number in one go on your arm. A test is carried out first with 2 to see if your body is suitable for the test.

It's not a bad test. I've had 3 acupuncture sessions in the last week and will be having another one or two and I've had needles stuck in my skull, face, arms, hands, legs down to my toes, they're ok too and it's only the swab that is wiped over the puncture sites that stings for a few seconds. ;)

Unless Matt has changed his technique since I went to him, he doesn't use needles at all, he attaches a clip to your toe and another one to your finger or something like that, it's not invasive at all, very interesting actually!

That's a vega test, I had that back in the early 90's and I was told my gallbladder was hardly functioning and that I had a wheat intolerance.

Hi I have just booked a test with Matt because I suspect I have an intolerance to diary as I have inflamed acne quite a bit. I've been off dairy for 5 days now but wondering should I go back on it until the test or does that matter? Will Matt be able to see the intolerance even if there's no dairy in my body? Any information would be great thank you!

I just got food intolerance blood tests done through Mulligans chemists. I found it very good. I kind of already knew about the main things that would come up - milk and wheat - but there were some other interesting ones, including a couple that I just did not believe but a bit of science research showed that in fact it was entirely possible. If there is something you never eat, as in, not at all, ever, (8+ years off chocolate in my case) that will show as normal/ok, even though you know it is not. I don't think 5 days would make any difference, as you have to do the elimination diet for a couple of months to clear everything out of your system.

I went to David Burke opposite De La Salle a few months ago and have intolerances to wheat, bran, rye, most grains, gluten, most cheeses and a few other things. Since I've cut them out it's the longest I've gone without sinus/post nasal drip and related coughing and being bloated in over a decade. I'm so much happier in myself as the sinus problems had me worn out.

How did you get on after Megan?

I need to get an allergy test done, is Matt still by the Granary? 50e seems very reasonable if it's still that. I get wicked trouble like IBS and stomach ulcers but its still undiagnosed at the moment as I'm on PPI's and I'm awaiting the results of a blood tests. I figure an allergy test can't do any harm either.

He's a doctor of Chinese Medicine - it's a food tolerance test, and not the same as a food allergy test. And, in my opinion, after going to see him, it's a load of rubbish.

After eating red meat I usually get cramps and unpleasant trips to the toilet. When it came to testing red meat he said "You're fine, eat as much red meat as you like."

he then told me I had Fybromyalga, which I absolutely do not. Steer Clear.
