I'm quite sceptical of auctions in general.

I've kept an eye on a couple of properties where the hammer fell in the auction rooms of recent times.

Little or no activity at these properties.

One appeared for rent within a month of its reported sale in the auction room.

Perhaps these sales never completed for the usual reasons.

Nevertheless, will be an interesting exercise to match published auction 'results' and the national register when it comes into effect.

Castleforbes yet again is prominent in these auctions. Guess it will help clear a few empties out there.

Empties? The ones I looked at all had tenants paying 1100 per month for 2 beds and 1400 for 3 beds. Plenty of rental demand for good quality apartments in Dublin city centre.

This is just more of the drip drip and looking at it most of it is investment stuff that people have subsequently lost.

I see couple of places for sale in Enniscrone.
AFAIK 5 or 6 properties were taken into receivorship not so long ago.
Now they are trying to flog off two of them.

Also some of the locations once again are very telling.
Ballina Tipperary, Castlerea, Enniscrone, Shercock, Dungarvan, Kenmare.
How the fook some people bought investment properties, and for very high prices, in these locations really does show how stupid and greedy people really were.
If anyone ever questions Kenny's comment about how Irish people lost the run of themselves they need look no further than some of the properties on this list.

The other very noticable thing about this list is the number of investment flats (nice that Allsops call them) appearing from the Dublin area.

I am not allowed discuss …

A quick look shows a poor selection of properties. Hardly represents the true reality of repossessions or unsellable houses out there.

Very true, anything that resembles looking like its any way worthwhile is still quite highly priced considering the very uncertain times we are in. What a mismatch of properties that appear up there sometimes. The scrapings of the barrell..

As far as i know the Enniscrone 4 beds have been through 1 or 2 Allsop auctions all ready and no sale agreed, maybe they were different houses from same estate.
With auctions, it is vital that you do allot of investigation, speak to neighbours, check the building, area etc
4/5 months ago I seen an apartment that was going for small money, found out after it was sold that neighbours are using most of the apartments in the block for escort services!! I feel for the people that bought

Any guesses on what lot 69 in Loughrea will go for??

Have to admit I never heard something like
Leasehold. The property is held under a lease for a term of 197 years from 1st September 1898 (thus having approximately 83 years unexpired).
in http://www.auction.co.uk/irish/LotDetails.asp?A=780&MP=24&ID=780000015&S=G&O=D for something so small in a while.

    =-=

    A couple in Leixlip; €60k to €80k

I suppose they're not that bad a price, as I remember them going for around the €250 mark (I think) when they first came out. i wonder if they all belonged to one person at some stage?
