Hi, Advice needed.Want to install an alarm on my 4 bed detached house. Any examples of cost of say quantum hkc, 3 pirs, gsm dialler, bell,3 doors sensors and windows sensors but 22 windows so maybe too expensive.
can anyone give examples of cost of installed versus diy install. If diy where the place to buy. Also would installed be best by registered installer to get reduction in home insurance or does it have to be monitored by eircom etc.
    thks pajoe

There are a lot of devices there for wireless @ its going to run fairly expensive.
Even more so if you go with HKC Quantum.
Take a look at Siemens & Visonic devices are roughly 20-30% cheaper.
There is a list of some suppliers here.
Reduction is given by insurance companies for any alarm installed by a PSA licenced company .Likewise any licenced company can set you up with monitoring . Eircom is no different from any other security company. Why would you think you must use them??

The Quantum comes in a kit form which can be added too, up to 70 wire free devices can be installed on this system. The best place to look for prices are on the suppliers list here. In terms of the amount of windows you need covered, are all these windows accessible? If not then they may not need to be covered in the final figure.

You will get a discount off your insurance company for an EN50131 alarm system professionally installed, you should also get a bigger discount if the alarm system is monitored by a monitoring station. Self monitoring of the system is not classed as a monitored alarm system by the insurance company so the bigger discount would not apply. With an EN50131 system you also need it serviced every year to keep it up to that standard. Also if you do install your own system them make sure the insurance company are aware the system is self installed.
