    The local ISP, Lighhouse Networks or Lightnet for short has decided not to hang around waiting for eircom.

    After several months in the planning Lighnet are delighted to announce the Loughrea Fibre-To-The Home has officially arrived. We are working on connecting the first homes at the moment and are very excited to hear our customer’s experiences with true next generation internet access. Loughrea will become the first town in Ireland to have this type of network

    I think they may have gotten some Rural Development funding but I am not sure. Loughrea is on the eircom FTTx roadmap....lets see if eircom bring them forward a phase :)
