Hi i have recently stumbled in the world of console modding and it's is so cool but my only problem is the fact i am a total noob when it comes to opening a console up it is just so scary that one mistake can really screw up a console or any electronics. Could someone mabey suggest some easy hardware or software mods or mabey a site that is noob friendly for modding and the legality surrounding modding (not wanting microsoft at my door trying to sue me for everything i have got lol.) Thanks p.s it's only going to be old consoles i am modding, less hassle and money to deal with.

For getting up to speed with soldering, you should practice on old/broken electronics boards that you don't need. Learn how to add & remove solder, using wires etc. You'll pick it up pretty quickly. Pick up a 15/20w soldering iron too.

Once your proficient with a soldering iron, you can start taking on some console mods. If your looking at retro consoles, mmmonkey is a good place to start. He details & explains everything well & has lots of pics.

For a starter mod, maybe try your hand at the Mastersystem 2 60Hz mod? It's as easy as they get really.
