Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Rats!!!

A friend of mine discovered that he has rats in his house recently,
apparently its very serious and he needs to find the source and get rid of them, he said he has to rip up floorboards and other stuff to find the source,

Is this true, surely there can be a more effective and less destructive way of getting rid of them.

Does anyone have any good advice please, thank you.

I take it he consulted someone.

Get a snake, the rats will leg it, but he will then have a snake infestation.

Catch one in a live trap. Fill the kettle and boil it. Place the rat in the live trap in the middle of the house or near where he suspects the rats to be nesting. Pour the boiling hot water over the rat. The screams from the rat will scare off any rats within a certain radius (Not entirely sure on the exact distance). Be careful though once it starts screaming you might notice other rats running around trying to scamper away.

Rat poison+traps usually do the trick.

Take off and nuke the house from orbit.

It's the only way to be sure

He should lace all the food in his house with strychnine, or else clean up the place and get proper bins...with lids.

That depends on the quantity a rat infestation can be serious enough.

Ah but then he can just import some gorillas to eat up all the snakes.
