Right, so this is just a thread for any JCers who are struggling with a specific topic/subject - you've come to the right place! If there's anything you want to know, just put the name of the subject in the title box, post your question and if any of us JC veterans are able to help you, we'll do our best. We'll answer your question or you can PM us if you need further help :)
Also, if any of the mods or regular Boardsies are knocking around and willing to help, can you post which subjects you'd be able to help the JCers with? I can help with English, History, French (little rusty! ¬.¬) and Business, and I know Indiego can help with Maths, Science, and Spanish. :o

You can also post any queries you have regarding study times, the exam itself, and any worries you have. Best of luck and hope this thread is of some use to you!

Here some stuff from a PM I sent a while ago- it might be useful for someone :L
    - English HL (A) - So I did a fair bit of
work for English, and to study what I
did was write out notes for all the
poems I studied, covering the main
    theme, things like alliteration,
    assonance, similes and metaphors,
and I did this in bullet points, not big
chunks of writing because I find it
easier to remember the stuff :L Then I
wrote out quotes for poetry, the play
(Romeo and Juliet) and the novel (To
Kill a Mockingbird), only 3 or 4 for
each, and just learned them off and a
bit of info about the quotes. For the
novel I just wrote out sample answers
and read them every so often, I did
character profiles of Atticus and Scout,
and for the play I wrote out notes on
key scenes and Juliet, Romeo and
Tybalt. As well as this I did past exam
papers, and read a lot of books :L I
did nothing for the media studies as I
find that a pretty simple part of the
paper, and I learned the structure of
letters, and I didnt do anything for the
essay because I usually get full
    marks :L
    - Irish HL (B) - Irish was the bane of
my existance last year- I HATE it, with
a passion, and because of that I really
cut corners when it came to
studying :L I did practice reading
comps, learned off the 4 tenses and
11 irregular verbs, for the studied
poetry I just picked a theme from my
    poem (Reoiteog Mharfach) Bás, and
wrote an answer, learned it off and
prayed it came up on the day, and I
did the same for my studied prose,
luckily the themes came up on the day
XD For the unseen prose and poetry I
learned a load of phrases, like 'I
think ... because ...' and 'The poet is
saying that ....' etc. and just did a load
of papers as practice :L For the
listening I listened to Irish Radio
(Radio na Life) and did some papers.
As for the essay, I got extremely lucky
    - the only essay I had ever written was
one on my favorite band, and it came
up on the exam! But in preparation all
I did was learn off a load of phrases
and pretended it would all be ok XD
    - Maths HL (A) - This is my favorite
subject, and so I didnt really find it
hard to study, all I did was go through
each question (Q1 P1 etc.) and do
every year of it, and after a while it all
just becomes very easy XD Really all I
can say is just do exam papers, and
when you run out, find some more
    online :L
    - Science HL (A) - This is my favorite
subject too, and Ive always been
good at it, so I didnt really study
much for it, I wrote summaries of the
chapters and did exam papers, and
    that was about it :L
-History HL (A) - To study for history I
did a bazillion exam papers, and
wrote out about 10 people in history
answers and learned bullet points on
them, I never actually studyed any of
the Irish history because it bores me
to tears, so for Q6 I had do do Q1
and Q4, but if Irish history isn't your
thing, it IS possible to get an A
    without it (thank god :L)
    -Geography HL (A) - I think geography
is one of the easiest subjects to do
very well in, if you know your stuff
about maps you have one of your
    long questions sorted :L
Practice the short questions, they can
really help you get points in the exam
if anything. To study all I did was
    practice long questions and draw
diagrams. Just to show you how easy
the exam can be, in my exam I didn't
know a part of a question, and I
literally just made it up, I forgot to do
2 diagrams and i left out a part of a
long question - but i still got an A, so
if you know you're stuff it'll be no
    problem
-Spanish HL (A) Ok so this goes for all
languages in general I suppose, for
the listening I just practiced exam
    papers and for the reading
    comprehensions I learned vocab and
did papers :L For the essay I learned
off a few phrases and did a whole
heap of practice letters, I learned the
endings for the different tenses and
some general verbs like Ser, Ir and
Estar and that was it really :L
-Art HL (A) Well I didnt study for this
so I cant say much, but Ive always
been good at art and I come from an
artistic background so i guess that
helped.. :L Really just put a load of
effort in and you'll be grand :L
-CSPE (A) I cant really say much about
this, just do a really good action
project (be really descriptive and use
big words XD) and actually bother in
the exam and youll be fine :L
-Religion HL (A) - Im an atheist, so
this exam is just hilarious for me, I
just bull**** about how God is great
and stuff and im grand. For my project
I made it all up and said I went to a
mosque (nope) and talked to an Imam
(nope :L). In the exam a good rule of
thumb is to just fill up every line (yes,
really) and know your studied religion
    well enough
-Home ec HL (A) - For home ec, the
projects really make a difference, I
spent a lot of time on my textile
project and practiced my dish a lottt in
advance, so Id say I got near enough
full marks for that :L Then I just made
notes on the chapters and did exam
    papers :L

A few other bits of advice- When your
in the exam, unless you are 100%
sure you have done everything to the
best of your ability and checked it 5
times (yes, 5 :L), dont leave early! The
only exams I left early in were science
and maths, both of which I left after
40 minutes, but that was an extreme
circumstance where i had checked everything a million times and was completely sure i had everytthing answered the best i could:L
Also, after your exams, dont over
analyse the exam, I killed myself
thinking 'what if' afterwards, and by
september I had myself convinced I'd
    failed everything XD

This is feckin brilliant idea!!! XD... I've question regarding Irish. Everyone including my teacher tells me to rote learn for everything really (story question, poetry, letter even the story) but I can't... I really can't!! I hate it!! :L I don't know how I manage to learn my business notes and stuff but I can! :P Anyway, what would be the best advice to someone who will be going into an exam and making up a story and answers on the day! Also if anyone has any Notes I'd be very appreciative! ;) Thanks A Million!! :D

I rote learned my prose and poetry answers, but I went into the essay with nothing learned off, what I'd recommend to do is get familiar with some useful verbs, and maybe learn a couple of phrases, I read a lot of Irish articles and listened to Irish radio, and I did a 'word of the day' type thing where I picked a random word from the dictionary everyday and tried to use it as much as possible, and just do a whole bunch of answers and read a lot of irish :L There will always be a certain amount of rote learning involved in languages, but I dont think learning full answers without knowing what youre saying, it defeats the purpose :L

I got an A, put a good bit of effort into support studies! Have at least one colour, one line, and one shaded support drawing for each thing, and at least four of them. Cut them out, with a backing, and stick them to a nicely coloured sheet.

    Thanks guys great tips!
I chose Looking at Nature and have been focusing on butterflies but developed from a cat looking at one and a bird on a watering can looking at one too :L
All I have left to do is support studies sheet and I'm a bit stressed. I just found an artist who paints loads of butterflies after days of searching! I'm wondering is there writing needed and what is needed to be written about? I'm going to do one or two of his paintings for sure, but not the same and put the original on it. The problem is I've just realized when I print it out it will probably blur?
Also I think I'm missing something important, so far I have done:
A sheet for Research drawings and paintings for the book cover
A sheet for my almost finished book cover (think I might re-do it I think its bad)
A sheet for the 3D piece - mask which I have put one colour and one shaded drawings of the mask design and that's all, should I put a butterfly or two on it?
I am preparing research drawings for my lino piece at the moment which will include the first print, a drawing of the actual butterfly with leaves that is on it and I'm going to put a potted plant on it too.

Should there be another sheet for the complete lino print and another sheet for the actual design of the mask?
Is there writing needed on every sheet, excluding the usual titles.

    Thanks so much,
    Al

Edit - Also if anyone could help me with my home ec cookery task no. 1?
Do I need to put some sheet with 3 types of flour and uses of each somewhere?

Just do a small paragraph about why you chose your thing (Butterflies or flying animals or whatever), why you chose it and how it relates to the theme you picked. I wouldnt worry about blurring, as long as it didnt look like you were lazy.

For the mask, no harm putting a small butterfly drwaing there I guess, but dont count it as anything important :p

I'd keep different sheets, certainly no point on over filling your sheets.

A in Irish here and all I did was learn off sample answers my teacher gave me and wrote them out.

What I do is I learn sentence 1, learn sentence 2, repeat sentences 1&2, learn sentence 3, repeat sentences 1,2&3.. and so on. It's boring and tedious, but it's repetition and that's how you learn things of. By saying it over and over from the beginning in your head, you'll be surprised at how much it goes in.
