My OH has just built a planter 8'x3', by 1' deep so that we can do a little bit of 'grow your own' and get the kids involved too. What would be the best plants/veggies to grow?Could we do a mix of flowers/plants and veg, or is it best to just stick to veg? We already have some herbs growing in a pot separately, and have other plants in the garden too. The planter is in a good sunny spot.

Any tips gratefully received!My OH has a good idea about gardening, but this is a new project for our family.Would love it to be a success.
