Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After a heavy night of drinking midweek and a number of days of recovery:rolleyes:
I wouldent mind giving it a break or even finding an alternative.
I wouldent be a heavy or regular drinker but do tend to go all out now and again.
Have tried differant soft drinks when i have been off the alco before, But am wondering does anyone have any suggestions to keep me bopping away all night.

All the actual alternatives bar not drinking are illegal. Just don't drink as much or even don't drink at all! you can still have a good night without booze.

Would be absolutely perfect if the OP wanted to think of an excuse not to go out with his/her mates and then watch crap films and eventually fall asleep on the couch.

But in terms of what the OP wants? Weed will not give you a buzz in a nightclub, it will make you want to get a kebab and go home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,933 ✭✭✭Logical Fallacy

    No, you can't.

Indeed, you can't. If you are a sad bastard.

Booze is awesome, a ****ing fantastic friend who will let you experiment with other forms of entertainment. Like the liquid equivalent of a **** buddy.

If you find it constantly calling you, endlessly wondering what you are up to and wanting to always be there at your nights out...that right there is a bitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,901 ✭✭✭Gunslinger92

Well you can get alcohol free cocktails if that took your fancy? Never tried them myself though :pac:

You should talk to kids in schools about the dangers of drugs.

That just made weed sound so ****.

I followed similar to the above for a while, just make sure you specify Tap water or they'll try to pass you on a bottle of their bottled mineral water and charge you about €3.50 for it.

TBH It kind of depends where you are drinking, I mean if you're just in a local pub then Tea/Coffee is a good alternative and it'll help keep you awake chatting through the night, though that option likely is not available in say a club in town. Milk is good too, though if you're female and walking into a bar packed full of lads, well ordering a glass of milk brings on the old dirty joke

Yes, if the OP was a child dragged to the beer garden on a sunday by her parents. Then a bottle of fizzy pop is the business

You want something to keep you bopping? Do you run out of steam if you don't drink?

You might want to try some exercise to increase your energy levels.

Water, coffee, cordial, fizzy drinks and non alcoholic beer are all choices. I'm not sure any of the will keep you 'bopping' though.

Bring out a couple of Berocca and a bottle of water and take them half way through the night?.. also there are things like ginseng and guarana which you can buy in health food shops that will give you energy..

Double drop two ecstasy pills then get your mate blow a gram of pure cocaine up your arse and you will be in great form for the rest of the night.

Why on Earth would one want to go to a pub/club full of piss heads sober in the first place??
Just see how much fun (and time) 'Peter Barlo' and his current girlfriend are having each day in the 'Rovers' you may say..:D
They must be going through a gallon of orange juice a day between them.

Plenty of other venues out there with less soul dribbling going on..

Go there. Say Hi. And leave. Pubs are for drinking alcohol. If you don't like it, try to get your mate to arrange his birthday party in a starbucks and see how that works out.

And at least order a soft drink. Don't be a cheap ass with a glass of tap water.

    Cans of Monster :D
okay, its a fizzy drink, but also an energy drink with vitamins etc, so not too bad

I used to be a pretty heavy drinker but gave up a couple of years ago, not completely but almost never drink now. On a recent Friday night out I wasn't drinking alcohol, just had 2 soft drinks the entire night. At first I was being all reserved and moody but come midnight I thought to myself, feck this I paid to get into this club I'm going to enjoy it, got up started dancing and after some initial feeling-like-a-toolery relaxed and really got into it, had a great night :)

Switch all your mates pints with non-alcoholic beer and watch the results.

Best entertainment you could ask for.

    Then snort a line.

woah, smarthole! Where did I say I drink tapwater? If you must know, I drink coke, (that cheap?) and I can't drink cause of a medical condition. So realistically, no I won't be gettin me mates to have their parties in the cinema or starbucks.
pubs are for socialising in, not just drinking. (you sound about 12)

Mdma* is the most obvious and best answer. If having an amazing transcendent experience filled with pure enjoyment and pleasure isn't your thing then stick with the water. Fish screw in it, remember that.

    *Take drugs responsibly :pac:

I didn't say you did. But others did (not that they said you drank tap water, but rather that they did)

And my point is, that pubs are not places for sober people. I hate arriving at a pub when I'm sober and every else isn't. Humans are pretty pathetic when drunk, unless you happen to be too. Lets face it, midnight in templebar is a nasty place when your sober.

Honestly, if i couldn't drink on a night out, I'd have a coke or two (No effing pepsi for me please) and head home early before it gets messy.

have you considered taking anything else to dull your senses? Prescription meds? Illegal narcotics? 8 shots of expresso? Because it makes pubs not just palatable but actually enjoyable.

Soda water and lime, its quit refreshing and not as expensive as soft drinks.

    .
Ridiculous! Preposterous! completely unfathomable on every conceivable level!!
Since going dry i have had more fun in the pub than I ever had whilst drunk... mostly as I am a messy drunkard. But the pub isn't just a place to get drunk and if you think it is then you should reevaluate your nights out

I love coffee. I'll never ever ever give it up and don't want to. It's become my thing. People say I'll turn into a cup of coffee soon:)
The only thing that puts me off is seeing what it's done to some peoples teeth. I'm a bit weird about my teeth, I have a bit of an OCD thing going on where I'm probably looking after them too much, almost...
