Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ridiculous! Preposterous! completely unfathomable on every conceivable level!!
Since going dry i have had more fun in the pub than I ever had whilst drunk... mostly as I am a messy drunkard. But the pub isn't just a place to get drunk and if you think it is then you should reevaluate your nights out

Nonsense, balderdash, poppycock! That's sillier than a naked man in socks.
(btw, you use that word conceivable, I do not think it means what you think it means)

Pubs are places full of drunk people. nightclubs are worse. The later it gets in the night, the drunker they get, the messier it gets.

And I never said i was getting locked. There's a long way between locked and sober. I like being nicely inbetween. Able to talk ****e, but knowing that what I'm saying is utter ****e :)

At the far end of the scale is coppers. i defy anyone to say that 3am in coppers is a nice place to be whilst sober. Where as 4pm in a beer garden is quite nice.

I love coffee. I'll never ever ever give it up and don't want to. It's become my thing. People say I'll turn into a cup of coffee soon:)
The only thing that puts me off is seeing what it's done to some peoples teeth. I'm a bit weird about my teeth, I have a bit of an OCD thing going on where I'm probably looking after them too much, almost...

    get them whitened so

I have 5 types of coffee on my desk. I love it to bits. i was sick and in hospital a while back and my local cafe sent me my regular order in a takeaway cup and a get well soon card. But I don't know if i could drink it on a night out.

5 pints of guinness I can handle. 5 grande americano's would kill me. Especially since starbucks started putting three shots into grande's/venti's :)

EDIT: btw, i smoke too. so my teeth aren't the whitest. I've been putting off going to the dentists because it's 400-500 to get a good job done. Getting it done in may.

I didn't say you did. But others did (not that they said you drank tap water, but rather that they did)

And my point is, that pubs are not places for sober people. I hate arriving at a pub when I'm sober and every else isn't. Humans are pretty pathetic when drunk, unless you happen to be too. Lets face it, midnight in templebar is a nasty place when your sober.

Honestly, if i couldn't drink on a night out, I'd have a coke or two (No effing pepsi for me please) and head home early before it gets messy.

have you considered taking anything else to dull your senses? Prescription meds? Illegal narcotics? 8 shots of expresso? Because it makes pubs not just palatable but actually enjoyable.

    What a load of BS.

I socialise a lot and not everyone that goes to a pub gets totally sh*t-faced before they leave. Certain pubs/bars that are frequented by younger people yes, I'd expect there to be loads of drunk people, but so what. They are the ones off their faces, falling around the place, not me.

I stopped drinking months ago and still enjoy my nights out. I ever remember them now.:D

Pubs are not only for those that are twisted, or on their way to getting twisted..... I was out laast night late enough and plenty of people weren't off their heads. Some people can drink sensibly - I saw plenty of them.

I wish I was doing MDMA right now. I'll have to get myself some drugs in the summer time.

As long as you share it sounds like a good plan... Come to think of it I might get some for the Ministry gig coming up.

Don't think I'll be buying another pint for a long time. Far too expensive, and I'm gone off all types of drink, taste-wise.

You can still have a good night out without drink. Well, for me anyway.

You should talk to kids in schools about the dangers of drugs.

That just made weed sound so ****.
Weed is ****e. It's probably the most boring drug.

    You took that very personally.

I never said you got sh*t faced.
I said pubs in general get worse. I have no doubt there's an old mans pub where everyone sits around drinking Guinness and nattering about the football and it's nice and dignified until closing. Most pubs will have drunk people who will be loud and obnoxious. I even said there was a scale from a nice beer garden at 4pm to coppers at 3am. And if you're going there for a party, people will be drinking more heavily.
If I were you, I'd go have a glass of wine and chill.
