But yesterday TEN asked media to “Save the Date” of April 23 for a Melbourne launch for the show.

Doesn't look like April 23rd (tomorrow) is the date of launch after all..

.. apparently, the premiere date of season 4 is to be revealed to the press tomorrow.

Couple of reports seem to suggest early May (and since it started Sunday May 1st last year, I'm willing to bet money on May 6th - first Sunday in May).

Masterchef Australia has just updated it's facebook page. The new season (4) is to debut on Sunday May 6 on Channel Ten in Australia. I wonder when we will get it here.

Not been too bad so far.. though am an episode or two behind!

I think this season is shaping up to be fantastic. They have a good mix of contestants, and they've learned from their mistakes on past seasons. The immunity challenges aren't one-sided any more, and the contestants genuinely have a chance of winning a pin.

They've upped the production values too. Editing and camera work spot on, and they seem to have access to a ton of new background music too.

Plus it's still great TV. The first part of the pasta elimination challenge was pure car crash TV (in the best possible way). I think the right person went home.

Great to have this back, I love it.

Still watching, Brian? Great series this year, really enjoying it.

Hard to pick a winner at this stage. The guys aren't standing out at all, and out of the girls I think Amina and Mindy have the best chance of going to the final stages.

Yep, still watching. Good alright!

Definitely Mindy could go far.. but she could be another Marion either. An all girl elimination round last Thursday so it's very early days.

What's really bothering me this year is the start of each elimination episode tends to focus on those who'll be in the final 2 / 3 and it can be easy to pick who's eliminated.

When I read that, I assumed that it was because a front-runner was booted, like

Amina or Mindy

. It was a bit less shocking than that, but still a good episode. The person who left was pretty inexperienced, so it was hard to see them ever reaching the end. Fair play to Beau for his offer, though.....

The double elimination was a bit of a surprise.

I will say this, though. Last year they explicitly said that "once you're out, you're out - no second chances". There wasn't a similar declaration this year. I wonder if there will be a cook off among eliminated contestants in a few weeks?

As the winner said at the end - you wouldn't have picked them as a winner at the start, and you wouldn't have picked them 2 weeks ago.

Fair play though.... did well and absolutely deserved the title.

The challenges in the finale weren't great though. I also think it would have added more drama if all 3 played through to the end.
