How is Tom censoring the internet? I would have thought a discussion forum like Boards would be pretty much the opposite of censorship, considering there wouldn't be a place to voice your opinion without it?

He is censoring boards - not the internet by not giving users "Freedom of Speech" which isn't even a law in Ireland afaik.

you're saying the owner of a site is an asshole on his own site. that's pretty much the best example of freedom of speach you're ever going to get, and its what Tom fights for.

The reason boards.ie has to censor more content lately, is because of Sean Sherlock. That's aside from any moral reasons obviously, such as believing an artist should be paid for their work.

Why would DeVore want to destroy the net? The whole Boards.ie things seems to have worked out quite well for him; why destroy it?

Boards does not censor content, it's a private site and when you sign up you agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions-there's no such thing as free speech on a private site.

There's a very big difference between moderation and censorship, and not a lot of people seem to understand it.

Boards has never advertised it allows free speech. It doesn't.
Benevolent dictatorship as they like to put it Basically, don't get the site in trouble with loose wording of Irish law and don't be a dick, then you'll be fine.
