Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Audi Dealer Re-structure

I notice Audi have reformed their network in Ireland. I note the local dealer in Kilkenny is now a "service dealer", Laharts. They would have sold truckloads of Audis over the years, am very surprised by this move. Audi is hugely popular in KK and cannot understand how sending customers to Waterford or Naas is going to increase sales. As an aside, No "premium" dealer at all in co Kilkenny now, which is mad for a county of nearly 100k people.

Sounds like it was the dealers decision, not Audi's.

Grange Motors in Deansgrange has also lost the Audi franchise, I was told this in advance by one of the sales guys about a year ago and it's now happened. It's a bit ironic given that they were the first Audi dealer in the country to have a dedicated Audi showroom but their website is now announcing that they've taken up a Hyundai franchise while across the road is still shifting VW & Mercedes.

Park Motors on the Navan road also seem to have tied up with Hyundai so clearly this was done at an MSL level.

The only Audi sales centre on the southside is now the 'Audi Centre' in the old Texaco HQ a few doors down from the US Embassy on Pembroke Road.

They have been undergoing a major restructure. I notice western motors in Galway listed as service agent only as well. I dont know any other Audi dealer in Galway. Then we have both official Connolly Audi outlets - Sligo and Audi Ballina within about 30 miles of each other. Its an odd set up now.

I'm sure it makes sense for Audi. A car showroom isn't as profitable as they'd like. The profits are nothing like those made from service/parts.

The restructure was anounced about two years back to bring them from close to 20 dealers down to I think 8 'specialist centres'.

Yeah, Western have lost it. All the Audi signage taken down, but the showroom and forecourt is still full of new and 2nd hand Audi's and they are still an official service agent.

My guess is that its an Audi HQ decision. They probably demand certain things from the franchise such as a dedicated showroom not shared with other marques and the likes of Western Motors can't / won't do that.

The funny (or not so funny) thing is, they gave up the Merc dealership a few years ago in similar circumstances to Cunnigham Higgins - who then went bust within 12 months. Barry Motors also gave up BMW to Tom Hogan motors, who also went bust within 12 months. So Galway has no BMW/Audi/Merc dealership today, whereas Athlone and Ballina do !!

I read a dealer in waterford had spent €8-10m on a glass palace, haven't a clue how they will make their money back. Surprised at Galway also with no car sales yet Ballina and Sligo have a sales outlet. Galway doesn't have lexus now either

No, he's not - hasn't been for years, only VW.

I doubt the part about the dealer in Waterford spending that kinda money is true as the place they went into was a toy shop and all the new dealer did was gut the place which wouldn't of been a big job it was a store with a few shelving so nothing major to rejig, they do have some nice cars in there and it's away from all the other dealers in the city but I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing

Yeah I saw that. Now called "Hogans" as opposed to Tom Hogans! I think it was bad property/land deals that saw their previous incarnation "go bust".

Al Hayes is VW only, no Audi. I'm sure he could get you an Audi if you wanted one, same as Western Motors. Personally I wouldn't buy a packet of crisps off him.

Blackwater Motors in cork have applied for pp to build a place on the tramore road ironically not far from where turners cross motors used to sell audi as one of their 4 franchises at the time, their showroom has also been taken over by blackwater.

1859 Audis registered in the country so far this year, only 19 of them in Kilkenny. Figures don't lie.
