Shoes to wear with a dress

Ok I am clueless. I have never worn a dress. I live in jeans and runners.

Anyway I saw a lovely dress but dont know what else to wear with it. You cant wear runners. I dont like high heels either and thats what I normally see ladies wear with dresses.

This is why I avoid dresses. You need shoes and a handbag with it. Its alot of hassle.

So what kind of shoes are ok with dresses. I dont like high heels and flat shoes will probably look odd, or will it?

Any ideas?

If the weather continues to pick up, some sandals would be lovely with it. Do you have a picture of the dress?

You said flat shoes would look odd, and since there's no picture no one here can claim they wont, but I find there's very little that wont go with a black pair of flats like these.
