Specialist issue

I know that there is probably nothing I can do and this is more of a rant than anything but its worth letting people know.

I was referred to a specialist a few weeks ago and prior to meeting him I told him what sort of medical cover I had. He arranged the appointment, I took time off and went to see him twice, got xrays and he diagnosed the problem and told me what needed to be done. I was happy to proceed with the operation and looked to schedule in only to be then told that he was only practicing from a specific location now and this location is not covered by my policy.

I had specifically told him my policy cover prior to meeting him as I only wanted to get an OP where I was covered (he was still listed as working in hospitals I was covered). I am really annoyed as it cost me 360 euro for both consultations (not to mention time off) and he could have told me from the start that he could not be able to do the OP and at least let me go to someone that could do the OP. To rub salt into the wound I then scheduled to meet another specialist who has told me that I don't need an OP and took another 180 off me. I am at the end of my tether as I have been told by 2 physiotherapists and 1 specialist that I need an OP and another specialist that I don't... I am 540 euro down and know no differently.

I think its a complete sham and I am furious with the original specialist for not being upfront with me. I cant really do anything as he done his job and diagnosed the issue but it was really bad form on his behalf that he didn't let me know that I couldn't get him to do the OP from the start. He told me that he could refer me to another specialist to do the OP but the entire point of going to him was because he was very good - I had a OP before and I wasn't happy with it so I just wanted it done right as I know I will suffer in later life if I don't get it sorted now.

As I said, more of a rant than anything but does anyone else have any experience of this kind of behavior and is there any comeback?
