Basically we are attempting to apply for the 856 ENS before the July rule changes. My partner is an electrician he recently received his TRA (trade recognition) and is due to go to Adelaide next month to sit the Electrical licence exam so he can change this over to a NSW licence. We were of the opinion that we could apply for ENS once he had TRA, on the immi.gov website I have found 2 conflicting answers one saying yes the other saying no. Has anyone else been in a similar position? Did you apply using TRA solely or did you need licence? Also how long did it take to convert S.A licence into NSW one?
    Many Thanks

One would assume its tra only as they can not have people overseas get a state licence. Post the two answers on the Immi website.

The department will also assess your visa application against all of the following:
    • you hold, or are eligible to hold, any mandatory registration, license or professional membership which allows you to work independently and without further training.
In order to be considered as eligible to hold any mandatory registration, license or professional membership for the nominated occupation, you must already be fully assessed as suitable by the relevant body. This means you must have applied for, and satisfactorily completed, any testing or training required by the relevant body. You should provide written confirmation from the relevant body that you have been fully assessed as suitable.
